Started Halo 2 on Heroic. Is it just me, or was my beloved plasma pistol nerfed?

Anyways, dual-wielding is fun, but I continue to die a lot. I am growing to really hate those aliens.

The cinematics are quite something, though.

A mate persuaded me to pick up No Man's Sky on game pass. As a co-op game it's actually kind of fun.

It's purrty.

You can also run about in mechs now...

There's a lot of co-op. Our plan has been to pool our resources and 'stagger' bases - i.e. one shared base per planet, taking turns to fund it.

Space combat sucks though.

Huh, so Halo 2 campaign follows 2 stories? Interesting...

Finished the Earth bit. The Chief feels really fragile on Heroic. Curious to see where this Arbiter story goes.

Must say, those cinematics are pretty damn epic.

Oh, you didn't know the Halo 2 story? I'm going to be interested in hearing what you think when you finish the game. There was a fair bit of controversy surrounding that game.

Nope, I'm a total Halo novice. Been making my way thru the MCC since December as they get released on PC.

It's just that Halo 2 is a game that gets brought up a lot when talking about fan expectations and developers swerving the fans - for example, the inclusion of the Arbiter is often compared to the Solid Snake/Raiden bait and switch in MGS2.

And 343 did something similar in Halo 5, I've heard.

Still trying to get back to normal, its been really hard though. The game just keeps coming back to me. I've expected it at times now, but other times I'm caught completely unawares and have to take a moment to lock in again on the future, have to keep saying to myself "windshield Kazooie, windshield... not rear view mirror." It's soooo difficult though. #Recovery #AchingForNormalcy #Support

Astroneer is consuming my life. I think I need to take a break.

I just finished setting up a base on a third planet and travelled back to planet 1 to distribute some Tungsten and bring some zinc to planet 2 and 3. I've reached the point where I can build medium sized rovers and strap drills on them. Soon as I get my hands on some iron and start filtering gasses from the planets atmospheres, it's going to get crazy.

Huh. Well, the Covenant just imploding like that was pretty epic.

Fuck fighting hunters in tight spaces, though. Probably spent 40 min trying to survive that encounter with 2 hunters and 4 grunts.

3 missions to go, and then it's time for Part 3.

Edit: that 2nd last mission was surprisingly easy. Only one problematic encounter (those damn flying bugs), and the Chief's story is over?

One more to go, but I'll save that one for tomorrow, I guess.

Played a couple hours of Ghost of Tsushima.

I'm not blown away by the game but it is fun to play as a Samurai. For those on the fence about the game I'd say wait for a sale. Tsushima's got a ton of atmosphere and novelty but it's a very middle of the road, overly familiar game in terms of Open world design.

And unfortunately the writing and dialogue is pretty generic and flat. Jin is about as charismatic as a house plant and the game doesn't really sell a feeling of anger or pride as a proper acting performance.

In a sense the game feels old. It's in the way a scene is framed and the characters animate, this feels like something you could have seen on any prior generation of console when a game was trying to tell a story. And that's pretty disappointing observation at the tail end of a generation that made some strong progress in this area. Especially when I've played Last of Us 2 just a few weeks ago.

Edit: On a less critical note I should add that if you're just looking for a run around and chop Mongols up Samurai game, it is fun. And I'm only just beginning to unlock the character abilities.

This is pretty much all I've got time for, and I've not got huge expectations that are likely to be dashed. TLoU2 is probably an awesome game, but I'm just not able to invest in anything like that at the moment.

On the downside I'm at work for the next 10 hours and wont get to look at it until this eve.

So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

I'm the same and feel like I want to get the game for this reason alone!

Play The Last of Us Part 2. It's a game that will be ruminated over a decade from now. I mean, you're probably gonna hate it for "reasons", but it has to be experienced. It's one of "those games" that doesn't came along very often. So check your apprehension and jaded biases at the door, and play it (just do it!)

Or don't because the story is not good.

I'm still not settled on what I think about that story.

One thing I will give Tsushima credit for is the sound design. The wind, drum and flute music and the sound of a sword going through flesh. It's very satisfying and peaceful and sometimes violent.
