They've really ramped the difficulty up. There's a population limit now so you can't just salvage all and sundry.

My thought is: if the Taidaan have limited RUs, maybe it'd be better to lure them back to the MS so she can help pound them?

Related note: also playing AOE2HD.

I think where I'm going wrong is going TO the Taidaan. Going to try and let them come to me - use the MS and my assault frigates to whittle their fighters down, then have my ion frigates come up from beneath their assault frigates, and finally try to nab all four destroyers (think it's the next mission or Kadesh that I get them).

I'm sure in Vanilla that I salvaged their carrier too; I've read that you can't get this one in HD... but we'll see.

I took a break from Fallout to play some Just Cause 3.

Ehhh... It's okay, it explodes good but it's an incredibly shallow game. It feels almost lacking in some aspects, like a missing mini-map, bad gunplay, fiddly vehicle interactions, etc. I'm not sure if it's just time passing but it doesn't feel quite as special or free as JC2 did.

Still, with out Red Faction: Guerilla 2 this is the best blow shit up simulator in 2015.

Finished Saladin's campaign. Mission 5 was really fun, the last one not so much (don't like defending missions)... took a few tries, peeked at a guide, too. Ended up blitzing one of the AIs (Franks, who focused on gunpowder units), it gave me some breathing room. Built up a fleet, curb-stomped the Genoese, and crippled the Kingdom of Jerusalem for a bit, and only then did I start building the Wonder. Ended up being anticlimactic, just sitting there defending against infrequent waves (send out Hussars and Mamelukes, destroy siege equipment, retreat behind walls, rinse-repeat).

Onto Genghis Khan, finished the first 2 missions, now gotta invade China. I got PD courses tomorrow and Wed, so prolly won't really get to play it until Friday.

Onto mission 14 of Homeworld. This is where it gets tricky on the HD remake as you have strict population limits. I need to see if I can capture any more cruisers and destroyers because right now I have a wall of 6 destoryers and 2 cruisers that curbstomps everything except strike craft. And so they have backup from a group of drone frigates and a carrier full of interceptors and corvettes.

God of War 3 remastered, The Last of Us remastered & The Uncharted collection (I'm terrible at the last two, because I'm bad at aiming. God of War is more my kind of game XD)

Yeah I'm struggling with that. Taking me a few tries to get past certain points (on TLOU). I'm enjoying it and my word it's a visually stunning game but it's gonna take me forever to complete!

To expand: Where it gets tricky is 'can I have more units than the production population limit specifies?' because I gather the final mission is going to be camping. In tents.

For me it's mostly the fact that I have to control the camera as well. I keep walking backwards, looking at the ceiling, etc. It's ridiculous hahaha.

Oh boy. Up to Mission 16 on Homeworld.

6 destroyers, 3 cruisers... BK, I'm going in.

I finally did it. That last mission was brutal, though. Those enemy heavy cruisers... yeesh. Glad I had a bunch of my own.

Welp, i'm addicted. Went to bed @ 4 AM after curb-stomping the Chinese. Took 5 tries to make a successful amphibious landing and bring my petards in range to blow up the wonder about 15 years before the clock ticks down. If the Jin actually put up a gate leading up to their dock, i'd have been screwed.

Once the Wonder's gone, I like to assume the Jin leader committed suicide in shame. Sat back, teched up to Imperial, developed up to improved cannon Galleons, and then demolished coastal defences. At the same time, started scouting the mainland beyond the Great Wall (demolished the gates, built my own there, and planted a Castle at the entrance) and the other 3 factions didn't even have walls, and only one had any towers. Also found six cannons from the "Chinese Engineers". Took the cannons, trebuchet, and a bunch of teched up Mangudai and Heavy Camels to wipe out the Jin, coming up from the same harbour entrance. I never get tired of seeing Cavaliers rushing in to get slaughtered by Camel riders, and fully teched up Mangudai are super-deadly (when you got thumb rings AND Partian tactics) Then swept around the coast up the river, and landed up the Sung's backside (guys with towers). Majority of my casualties came from my own cannons doing AoE damage. Reinforced, and did a pincer on the Tangut, and then also the last one (Hsi Hsia). Skulls for the Khan!

Rogue Galaxy! Had to buy this when I saw it was released on the PS4, spent over 80 hours on this for the PS2!

Also bought Bastion - wanted to play this for ages and couldn't go wrong for £3.50.

Bastion is wonderfull, as is Transistor. The music is so great, I loved both games, and I hope to see something New from the company soon.

I thought Transistor was disappointing. The story was barely there and the gameplay while interesting became boring fast. I found Bastions fast paced dodge and roll combat much more rewarding.

... what? Not liking the story of Transistor is one thing, but to say there was very little story can only mean that you played the game drunk.

Well what ever story there was must be completely forgettable then. All I can remember is that...

Finished with the Mongols. After China, it got much easier. (on Normal, mind). Still, the last mission against Hungary was fairly anticlimactic, although I did have to do a rush to smash the Wonder towards the end.
I guess playing with AoC that made Petards standard took the excitement out of having them as the "super-reinforcement unit". If Subotai showed up with a Mangudai horde I saw in intro to Mission 1, it'd have been cooler.

Anyhow, now onto Barbarossa. Done with camels *sniff*. Gotta shift my tactics to fit the Teutons.

Barbarossa mission 3 was fun. Converting myself a starting base, then taking the river back from a marauding fleet, and then the punch for the cathedral.

Feeling a bit stifled by the 75 unit cap, can`t wait to get to AoC and have that doubled for some massive epic fights.

Cavaliers are so OP against any civ that doesn't have camels. Add the Teutonic knights to deal with any pesky pike-men, and they're nigh unstoppable.
