In chapter 23 GP is attacked by Rood to the point of death, but during the consequent conversation with Cotillion he notices he slowly heals from his wounds.

Did Cotillion heal him, or somebody else? It's a little unclear to me. I haven't read any further yet, so if it's explained later in the book my apologies.

Pretty sure Cotillion healed him, I think there was a line about Cotillion being merciful. IIRC, I don't think he exhibits this power in future, but it's probably not a far stretch to say that gods' power is increased in their own realm.

Hmm, I have finished my 2nd reread of GotM a few weeks ago and I just grabbed the book again to get to chapter 23.

I'd say somehow Cots did heal him yes, but so far as I can see that merciful had to do with releasing Sorry, not with healing Paran.

What I do understand is that Rood was premature to attack Ganoes, Cots didn't mean to.

I had more things to add, but we are in the GotM section now and I do not know if you have read Memories of Ice yet.

I'm on my 2nd reread of Deadhouse Gates and after a slow start I'm loving the book again and I'm looking forward to my MoI reread.

Sappers have a saying, he muttered. "Wide eyed stupid"
