I would really like to experience this series, but I do not have time to actually read them, and am a slower ready to begin with. However, my job offers me plenty of chances to listen to audio books. I have checked this forum a bit, but only really found the thread from a few years ago regarding audio format. I have a subscription to Audible and couldn't find them on there. But after further searching I couldn't find any available on-line anywhere. Is there any official word on why they aren't available and if they may be anytime in the future? Have only heard great things about the series and would love to delve into it.

I actually came here intending to ask the same question. I've heard that there are some (inofficial?) audiobooks that can be found on various torrent sites, but I haven't heard anything about any official audiobooks. Isn't that odd? I'm quite surprised that there aren't any audiobooks made. Any reasons for that? Hasn't the series sold good enough?

EDIT:

I found this post in a thread

Good news!! Or at least, not bad news!!

This is the email reply from steven eriksons website:

Dear --------I have just recently signed an amendment to my contract for audio versions of the Malazan novels; so the wheels are in motion, at least through Bantam UK.

Glad you're enjoying the books.

Best Regards
Steven Erikson

So it may be a while but looks like they are on the way..now...maybe I'll tide myself over by starting WoT series.

Any news, anyone?

I got this mail yesterday:

"Dear Jonis

I am unaware of any progress beyond the quote I provided in that interview. I will drop my publishers a note. The real obstacle of course is the sheer volume of these works.

Best Regards
SE"

I can't imagine reading this series the first time through on audiobooks. I'd spend more time rewinding than actually listening.

As far as audiobooks go I remember there was somebody who did his own version of Gardens but I'm not sure if it was ever released.

I believe that you can find it on torrent sites. I've found it as well as several others but I haven't been interested in listening to them. I'm just assuming that it won't feel as if the quality is good enough.

It is sort of frustrating that I am trying to PAY someone for a product and apparently am going to have to "steal" it instead. It really baffles me that the publisher of such a popular series would completely ignore a rapidly growing medium in which to sell their product.
