Am reminded that a number of people asked me for the teriyaki salmon recipe.....so here you are, Dag, Mrs Paleman, Hetan etc
This works for up to 4 people - multiply quantities if catering for an orgy, or whatever
I just use standard salmon fillets - the marinade works for up to 4 fillets.
Marinade: 3 tablespoons of demerara sugar, 4 tablespoons of soy sauce - I use the reduced salt variety - because I can but any should be ok, 4 tablespoons sake (Japanese rice wine).
I mix the marinade ingredients in a resealable food bag and add 2-4 salmon fillets and seal it and leave in the fridge for anywhere from 1 to 24 hours.
When ready to cook, you can either cook the salmon fillets on the BBQ or bake in the oven at 220C for around 15 minutes having removed them from the marinade of course. The marinade is transformed into a sticky gooey teriyaki sauce by pouring into a small pan and heating over a low heat, stirring to avoid it boiling, until it reduces by about half and will then be ready to pour over those salmon fillets.

From all of "Hetan's" messages it would appear that a number of people defo had a crackin time. Shame i missed it as the 1st (sadly only time so far) i meet alot of you was great, good o'l trek round london! Hopefully next time something is organised by you lot i can make it.

A belated entry as I've been away sunning myself on a selection of very pretty beaches, and work has been a bit hectic for the last couple of days
Huge props to Mal and Hetan for opening their home to a group of international reprobates. You are stars of the greatest magnitude and the perfect hosts. It was a shame Dag and I had to leave so early (as the fun appeared to be breaking out in earnest, but we were flying the next day) I would also advise you to take a headcount of your cats, as I believe Dag fell in love with them both and was casting covetous eyes over them. I'm fairly sure she was sizing at least one of them up to see if they'd fit in her luggage.
It was nice to see all the usual suspects again and some new faces too. Big props to Mr and Mrs Paleman - especially for the sausages It was also great to meet Alt and the Altessa. Thanks to Fid for the sterling BBQ work and the fantastic slideshow of BBQs Through The Ages (the salmon was damn good too!) It was also great to meet Silencer and thank him personally for all his good work on all of our behalfs.
Again thank you all for making it such a great time. And I hope there are many more to come.

It proves to be quite difficult to put together something coherent after a week of baking in the hot sun, getting sunburn and suffering a vicious sunstroke that still keeps my belly aching and my brains boiling, but... here we go:
First of all, I bow to Hetan and Mal, the most wonderful hosts in the world, whose cordial hospitality and divine patience never cease to amaze me. It was great to see you again and to celebrate the traditional day of Malazan Madness in your beautiful garden, surrounded by your lovely menagerie. (Note: No fish were hurt during this year’s festivities – at least before I departed, cannot guarantee for later – and no, I did NOT squeeze any cats into my luggage, although I’m sorely tempted to book an extra check-in bag next time I’m in England...) Big hugs to both of you!
It was lovely to see all the good people of the Malazan Empire again and to chat about life, universe and everything. Big thanks to Fid for relentlessly holding his position at the grill and keeping us all well fed (that delicious salmon is still haunting my dreams!) and to wonderful Mr. & Mrs. Paleman for all the goodies they brought with them. I’m very glad I finally got to meet Silencer as well as Alt and his lovely girlfriend with extraordinary talent for foreign languages. And Messremb – give my regards to your lady, it was a true pleasure to chat with her about all the sillier aspects of literature and about the ambiguity of certain song texts.
To all the rest of you who I have already met before and hope to meet again in the future - you are an absolutely amazing bunch of people that I am glad and proud to know. I love you all!
