I think they're creations, not descendants. But I could be wrong. They do have some prominent teeth.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

Crump is clearly that one guy from that one book.

If not him, why not Redmask, finally doing something bad ass instead of just pretending to?

Or maybe he was a physical manifestation of The Crippled God himself.

For me, the joke was on the soldiers themselves who thought they made Bredd up when in fact he was real and just simply a stealth ninja, look at it this way, he'd certainly be easy to hide amoungst all the heavies!

It was the "hurt look" that he delivered Fiddler that answered it for me that he was real!

Maybe...

...or maybe he was hurt that he wasn't recognized as the manifestation of the soldiers' will that he was.

But mostly i stil think it was Crump on his knees.

So he's Grub's bigger but younger brother.

Nefarias Bredd is actually one of Quick Ben's souls that he stole. He occasionally comes out of his body to do some soldiering. That's how come Nefarias Bredd was gone for most of the book until Quick Ben was reunited with the Marines. Then suddenly Nefarias Bredd was back in time to save Fiddler. Hah!! i figured it out!!

I genuinely think Bredd was a SE's nod to himself, just writing himself in at the end of the book as a nod to the series after all the time he has spent on it....

No, SE is Cotillion. Nefarrious Breed is literally a fkn joke. Bred out of boredom. See that exchange where the soldiers are all speculating about that 'inner circle'? It's like that, but a long game kind of joke.

I don't know whether this has been mentioned or not not upthread but we know Fiddle has power of SOME sort, so what if it was HIM who created Nefarias Bredd. Manifested a physical version of him when he needed help, hence Nefarias looking hurt when Fiddler doesn't recognise him. Plis the fact that he disappears soon after. Kinda like Seren Pedac did with Trull in RG. Thoughts? Never really posted before, this is my first sober post. :D yay me.

I think that neferias bredd was a manifestation based on the marines jokes/fantasies through the last few books. Their desperation manifested the perfect marine/heavy the help them out in their last stand.

Nefarias Bredd is what someone (Smiles or Shortnose, i think) made a joke about. I think nef was a manifestation of the collective will of Tavore's army. Maybe he was the avatar of the God of Heavies....i like the second one better. He definitely was not a regular in Tavore's army.
