soooo.. can anyone explain why srgt. jumpy was not in this book???? he is one of my fav. characters and I looked forward to actually seeing him again. Sadly, that did not happen.

I can't explain it, it was one of the very few disappointments of this book. If we see the Malazans again hopefully he makes an appearance. Would be tragic to have such a good character confined to one book.

Well, apparently SW was written years ago, so Esslemont maybe didn't count on the love for Jumpy and thus did not think to include him. He really was my favorite character in RCG.

because it was based on a different continent and he may well appear in another book.

True, but he included a few of the other Soldiers from Quon Tali in the book, so you'd think he might have found an excuse for throwing Jumpy in there. The guy was a hell of sapper.
