Wow, that game was atrociously slow. I agree with all the proposed changes, dibs, would make it soooo much better.
@Vengy - yeah, yeah, go ahead and bitch. Just because you're in a conflicting time zone, I'm not about to sell out on my sleep to play a mafia game in the middle stages of progression. I might do it for an intense one at the end-game, or if I'm *really* after hiding myself, but this just wasn't worth it, heh.
I think the downfall of this game is that people allowed me to hide. I mean, seriously, if I'd had to work to keep myself alive, I'd have been a lot more aggressive, but honestly, I turned a hog-tied reveal around on its head even though I'd already voted in like...four posts? There just wasn't any pressure from anyone, and it came down to the lives not being pushy. Partly that's because their allegiance was going to change quickly, and partly it was to do with lack of action from the top of the faction, but the end result was the same. Essentially unroled people in this game should have been playing like RI's. I just think they were too scared to hit their higher ups, whereas in a normal game while you don't *want* to hit your finder/guard/healer you aren't really paranoid about it.
And my god, I was meant to have 1033 credits? O.o That's insane. XD
It was a good setup, and an interesting game, it just suffered from player attention deficit and time zone lag...I think.

Freaking chain faction games, man. Wtf has my second been doing? I mean, sure, he's important, but dammit, when you end up starting a lynch train yourself, in a game where Captains are targets for FMs - i.e. PEOPLE WITH FREAKING NIGHT ACTIONS - there is something wrong.
I mean, there's also the whole issue I brought up on thread of the lower ranked players being easily traded and not knowing their captain. So, people can be pointing at me and saying "low-poster must be x, lynch hiiiiiim!" while I'm actually their damn leader. Then again, not that this really matters as they might end up on another team before day is out.
Basically, life one's should be leading the charge. Mr Z should be hiding like crazy, because he has no-one really to sway the game. Mr J and I, on the other hand, should be a bit more free to move around, seeing as we have decent sized factions covering our asses. Instead I've ended up with what amounts to a neon sign above my head screaming FACTION LEADER in bright pink and blue. Sure, logic says I wouldn't start a lynch if I was a captain, except that obviously I WAS low-posting, joining trains at the end, etc. So perhaps it's worth the risk to move into me? Or at least to find on me. Ugh.
If I don't get picked up as a Captain, it will be a damned miracle. Heck, my own damn faction is liable to end up lynching me because I've been laying low. Wtf.
I like the setup, dibs, don't get me wrong, but it kinda seems like a game predicated on certain players being crucial to on-thread, and others crucial off-thread. Except that means you need strong players in those positions, and it's random draw. So, for example, if my life one guy is lost, or if he's not doing his job right, my faction gets its ass handed to it. If I'm not doing my job right, my faction gets nuked (let's not talk about the added issue on that end of playing a game of luck, balls, and skill), and if my second isn't up with the game enough to realise the first life isn't doing their job properly and step in, well...
Basically, I dragged my own ass out of the fire via off-thread play. I managed to prevent early control swinging to Jernau, and now it's basically whoever gets the best cards/most cash from days ending gets an extra player or two. Or credits. That's about the limit of my involvement unless I get a good hand and wipe Jernau down to team Z size. Or vice versa.
But then my own team isn't picking up on their end and playing with the lynches. I'm not asking for a team-wide highlighting, or anything, dammit, just a bit of thought and effort out there. And that has to start with the first life, or the second. No-one else is aware of who NOT to vote for that might be team important. Hell, even the first life has to take a cue from the second as to who the captain is. Without the other teams picking up on it as well.
Bah. Minor rant is arrogant and ranty. But not necessarily wrong.

There have been a dearth of proactive play. you would be amazed how many high ups have had successful finds done on them, and no mentioning on thread. The lifes should be poisoning like crazy, but dont seem interested in doing so (something caps are immune to). Really with no nk and use of cards i had expected to captains to be th emost aggressive players as they are little more than symps to the powerful seconds or poisoning lives yet immune to everything but the fm.
@tat - of course - just didnt know they had access
It would help if we knew who the second was. Just saying.....
although, i'm fairly sure I layed a clean game. I didn't lead any charges but I didn't paint a bright target on GL either, which is really all I could be concerned about, since I didn't really know who silencer was.

I also enjoy how prior to Twelve's implosion and the baring of the faction lines Vengy was convinced that I was both on his team AND morgy.
means I was def. doing something right.

I swear to fucking god When I find out who on my fucking team didn't fucking vote for Merrid....... MOTHER FUCKER.... Barghast had better of been the fucking FM during that lynch.
Pfft, Korabas' reveal was utterly useless, if I found the whole role suspicious why wouldn't I find the team suspicious? It was more important to get rid of the FM, and that's what Kor looked like to me. I actually made the effort of staying hidden in this game, while Sil and Omtose pretty much revealed the entire faction to everybody.
me and sil and korabas basicaly revealed our team and all of team K as well, while we had the numbers to press the advantage. If we had gotten merrid lynched I think team J would of won the game
as we lost a member( korabas) and revealed who was who plus then lost that hand in the card game, it blew our chances
but if we had kept korabas and removed merrid...so close

keep in mind, you guys had plurality, but not majority.
Zakalve would've voted with us to remove a Jernau.
though the FM (Fener) voted with you, you'd still have been one short, even with Barghast voting Merrid. Rashan, Ruse, and Liosan all had 0 reason to make you guys stronger.
Bargy's vote on Korabas just sped up the inevitable turn of the tide.
And I still hold that Korabas' aggresive push was a tactical mistake. he mad eit way too early, his team didn't have the pressing advantage yet.

Yeah, but you guys weren't getting Merrid.
And I'm obviously toogood lucky at poker without the spacing of the cards to have lost that hand. XD

And I'm obviously too

once Dibs introduces player bets on card game outcomes, this will become epic. since we will then need to interpret your bets, w/o knowing what cards you have.

oh, and I gotta echo Morgy: our newbies are fitting in well, and I don't know any of them anymore, so this pretty much eliminates meta out of the equation, leaving me terribly confused... making this all the more fun.

Yup, the new folk are getting along swimmingly! It's been great. Makes a few more of the older tactics either reusable or at least reoccur while they get their footing, too, hehe. Always good to have a change.

this was a first straight-up merc game in a while where I wasn't grudge-killed immidiately after being alted. And I love merc games: I play them much better than town v scum, and always have.

Mmm, my track record as faction leader has been quite good so far, though I'm nearly never as effective in a supporting role.
Though, as far as my favourite faction games go (Culture notwithstanding) I still think of Mistborn fondly, albeit with a hint of blinding anger and rage at the reasons behind my lynch. D: < And I was an independent factor in that.

Faction games mesh well with my "don't make huge waves" playstyle. provided i'm not grudge-killed, I usually live long enough to see the ending. and whilst i'm not great at planning stuff, being alive when things go down to the wire is usually enough to make a difference for the team.

If only we offed Silanah early in the game ha, that would have been awesome. The Dude being lynched is impossible isn't it, he is just to damn slippery
Kudos for team Kraiklyn, well done, good win.

That was a good game, everybody. I almost made it to the end. The slow parts were agonizing at times, waiting on everybody to post, but still, we're all over the world.
Thanks for setting that up, dibs.
If anybody has constructive criticism on my playing, it would be well-received and appreciated.

HiddenOne. You son of a bitch. You slimy, skulking, low-posting scumbag. You knew it would come to this. Roundabout, maybe. Tortuous, certainly. But here we are, you and me again. I started the train on you so many many hours ago, and now I'm going to finish it. Die HO. Die. This is for last time, and this is for this game too. This is for all the people who died to your backstabbing, treacherous, "I sure don't know what's going on around here" filthy lying, deceitful ways. You son of a bitch. Whatever happens, this is justice. For me, this is justice. Vote HiddenOne Finally, I am at peace.

Yeah, I really enjoyed the game. It slowed down, but even then, I enjoyed the setup and would play a similar game again (especially with the suggestions for new/improved rules).
Mafia is too much fun. I barely post elsewhere on the board while playing.
I NEED MOAR
And a huge thanks to dibs for creating the game and our lovely assistant mods.

We sail in and out of Time, then back again. There is only one ship, the captain says. All the ships we hail between the galaxies or suns are this ship.
