Since QoD didn't receive enough popular support to make the calender I decided to give her some attention. Problem is I remember absolutely nothing of what she looks like so I've only improvised. Thus, hints would be much appreciated. As would ideas for a background. Also if no one recalls anything about her appearance tips on queen-like accessories befitting her majesty's status as the Queen of Dreams would be helpful. The feather crown was the result of desperation, so you know how out of ideas I am.

When she appears in HoC/BH she's blonde and has her hair done up in lots of braids, I think. I also believe her eyes are greyish...in Stonewielder, however, she is raven-haired...

Anyone got any quote fu regarding this?

here's how I painted her awhile back:

I believe the Adjunct should have a place in the calender too- even more so than Laseen. I know she doesn't come across in any way as sensual, stimulating, sexy, erotic and what not .... but she is going to take on the Crippled God. That's guts, and bravado! For that alone, she deserves to be pinned up. What with artistic freedom and stuff. Spice her up!

I think we've tossed the Adjunct in with T'Amber....it's gonna be hawt.

Very well. I dig your style.
I think besides Karsa Orlong - one of my favourite characters, as you may have guessed - some other suitably good-looking guys may include Trull Sengar, in fact all of the Sengar brothers, Anomander Rake, Cotillion, Sergeant Urb, the Beddicts.... hmmm- the list of attractive women is much longer! No fair! but- here's another one: Crokus aka Cutter. The Errant, but I really don't like him. Ganoes Paran, of course.
Getting there- with some help from the other ladies on the board!

I'd vote on that! ^^^ In fact, not a day goes by where I don't dream of seeing Cotillion lounging in a banana hammock.

I love how you did the braids, and that crown is amazing. When I started with the hair I actually made an attempt at drawing one big braid that sort of goes around the head but as it turns out I can't draw braids.
Well I am just going to go with the HoC/BH version then :( Fixed the eyes though, made her a bit freaky looking but I suppose goddesses get to be freaky.

Still no ideas for a background...

Nice.
For Background:
There a scene with the QoD where she is sitting by a pool talking to... someone, I sort of imagined it as roman architecture, manicured garden, columns and such.
or if you wanted to get real complicated the mirror warren thing from Night of Knives.
Rejoice. For very bad things are about to happen

Ah, yes. I remember the pool scene, somewhat. Any idea which book that would have been in? I will look up the mirror warren thing but if you judge something to be real complicated I expect it will be too much so. Thank you for the tips!

I like the eyes now, but she looks a little too frightened for my taste. I think of the Queen of Dreams as very composed. I agree with Nobbs about the background.

Well, frightened was not what I was going for. I want her too look like someone who's capable of giving you both sweet dreams and nightmares while giving nothing away as to which it will be.

Murillio, hmm, Somehow I think of his womanizing ways as acquired skills, as opposed to the animal magnetism of, say, Karsa. I'd love for you to prove me wrong though.

Dassem Ultor, surely. Iron Bars?
And just for the fun of it- what about the the Bridgeburner/Bonehunter squads with Fid, Kalam, Quick, Gesler, Stormy- maybe not handsome, but legend.

I have always imagined the Queen of Dreams to have an attitude like Julianne Moore with some Kim Basinger mixed in. I think they could give you sweet dreams and nightmares.....

I think it's a combination of flared nostrils, the slightly raised eyebrows and that we see too much white below the iris...

Hellian may not have much physical descriptions, but she is Kartoolian, so there might be descriptions somewhere of other Kartoolians? If not, well Kartool is off the coast of the Untan/Bloorian regions, which sound pretty white-European/caucasian in skin and hair colour, so fair-skinned and hair in the blonde-to-brown range would be the most logical assumption in my mind.

I was thinking about giving her blonde hair with a slightly red tinge.. Any good?

Because iirc none of the Kartoolians we encounter [Hellian, Urb, Touchy-Brethless, Banaschar] aber ever described.. *sigh*

Just read a part of DoD yesterday where it says she has bleached hair

Quote

While she struggled to he feet, pating at her bleached hair, he glanced back once more up the street they had just come down.

page 107 in UK trade paperback, it's when Urb and Hellian are getting Touchy Brethless out of the whorehouse.

Male pinup version? Hm, it's getting hot in here and I'd love to see Murilio.

My version of Lostara is finished by now, but I guess even my first WIP would be too revealing so I'll keep it concealed.
