Maybe I'm just reading it too fast, but could someone list who is with the Malazan and Coltaine side, and who is with the rebellion? Theres so many groups that are written about so quickly. The point of view is all through Duiker and he just sees a quick glimpse of certain nobles with servants and other primitive tribes with no background. Meaning no background for the reader.

Ok, so breakdown of the factions:

Malazans
High Command
- Pormqual
- Mallick Rel
Coltaine, Bult and the Wickans
- Crow Clan
- Weasel Clan
- Foolish Dog Clan
- Sormo E'Nath, Nil and Nether (warlocks and witches)
Marines (Capt. Lull)
Various infantry divisions and sappers(Chenned, Sulmar, Mincer et al.)
Nobles 'representing' the refugees (Pullyk Alar, Nethpara, Lenestro, Tumlit)
Red Blades (Lostara Yil, Tene Baralta)

N.B. The Kherahn Dhobri (Aren's tribal neighbours) do not join the rebellion or fight the Malazans, but help resupply the Seventh Army.

Whirlwind Rebellion
Commanders
- Sha'ik, Korbolo Dom, Kamist Reloe, Febryl, L'oric, Bidithal, Mathok, Leoman, Toblakai
Tribes
- Semk
- Tithansi
- Bhilard
- Bhelaral
- Khundryl Burned Tears

I think that's it. May have missed some, but just going off the map, Dramatis Personae and my own memory, that's pretty much the breakdown of the factions. I can't remember whether the Gral join the rebellion or not, someone else might be able to answer that though.

I don't recall the Gral on the Chain of Dogs at all. I somewhat recall some Gral on the Rebellion's side up north, like with the Fiddler/Kalam story. Which isn't to say they had any particular faith in Sha'ik.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

What was the tribe that wanted to observe the battle between the Seventh and the rebellion?
Screw you all, and have a nice day!

The Khundryl come to find an answer to who is the most powerful of the southern odhan tribes at Sanimon Valley. While the Seventh is tenuously holding of Korbolo Dom's armies/tribes, the Khundryl charge in from the rear, effectively breaking Dom's advance and probably saving the Chain. At the end of the day, an unnamed chief rides up to Coltaine, who says the answer to the earlier question must be the Khundryl since they drove back Dom. But the chief says it is the Wickans who are the most powerful. While that doesn't really put them with the Malazans, they were definitely not part of the rebellion, but independent.

In a nutshell?

Soletaken - one mind, one form (Messremb)
D'ivers - one mind, many forms (Ryllandaras, Gryllen)
