Yeah, wow. if it "only speeds up in the second half" then it must be going from warp to hyper warp.

To be fair, Pat's the same guy who thought The Gathering Storm was on the same level as The Path of Daggers and Winter's Heart.

OK, this is much more than I expected. Is it really only from first chapter? (if not, I would be really angry, really)
But I have so many thoughts and question in my mind...oooh

Now where is that "I hate the Errant" club? I'd like to join, and recommend him for the "Greatest douchebag in Wu" award.

This excerpt had so much AWESOMENESS that I cannot wait until I get the full package! :)

Forget DoD ... you need to reread every book from HoC onwards!

Regarding the brief POV from the Crippled God in italics at the end of the Liosan section (which I think is formatted incorrectly so that on the Tor site it looks like it is actually a PART of the Liosan section. Otherwise, I'm very confused.)

Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

As far as I'm concerned you can post what you want in here as this has been posted and therefore is no longer a spoiler.
You should be able to guess who the body is - easily - from this.
And no - it is not a prologue - this is straight from the get go.

In that case, HD's guess, Heboric, seems best to me.

So its really first ten pages? Im confused by two short Paran POV´s.

And body...I fear its Fiddler (or Brys)...but it has to be someone from battle with Nahruk, there is clear reference, as I mentioned...but no spoiler, no spoiler:)

OK, I reread this part again. Krul wanted the body. It must be someone who was in battle, thats why Mael glanced at him with "I saw it through Brys tears". But Krul wants him for getting to Tavore. Into her hearth. So, who was so close? Who was so much ridden by guilt? It points to Keneb. Or Fiddler.

edit: And was I only one, who didnt realize in DoD that clash of Nahruk and BH was Errant´s work?
