What I really want to know is: is the date American format or European format?
It is perfectly monstrous the way people go about nowadays saying things against one, behind one's back, that are absolutely and entirely true.

I loved the first two films and will probably love this one... even if it's crap... when it comes to Transformers the childhood memories give me tunnel vision!

I reckon it's our solar system and our moon... the NASA guy says the name "Neil," Im guessing referring to Neil Armstrong...

Looking forward to this, Bay said it's going to be darker and more gritty, hell yeh!!!!

This one definitely is - the discussion in this topic is about whether the Decepticon ship we see in the second film is on our moon or somewhere else.
I can't carry it for you, but I can carry you.

Ah, now it makes sense, I couldn't understand why it was even a discussion... Now I see why

I was gonna post this the other day when it showed up online...but to be honest I was SO underwhelmed by it. A tease is a tease, but this trailer is goddamned awful.

We did the whole otherworld-you-don't-see-much tease with the first flick, you do not make a third film and make a teaser trailer like this....you just don't. It's bad filmic rules. This would be like if the third Lord of the Rings had a teaser trailer that just showed the woods, a castle and then some random character's face....would that have been exciting? Ugh.

This teaser trailer, coupled with the poster debut the other day.... (see below):

Posted Image

...have convinced me that the marketing Department over at Fox is either filled with poorly educated monkey's, or some sort of sentient brown sludge....

Marketing meeting for Transformers: Dark Of The Moon

-----------------------------------------

Marketer 1: What should we put on the poster guys?

Marketer 2: Um.....

Marketer 3: Errr.....

Marketer 2: Ummm..Optimus Prime...?

Marketer 1: Okay, good! Now how should he be presented?

Marketer 2: In front of some orange smoke?

Marketer 1: Oh awesome! That's such a great idea!

Marketer 3: Oh, and remember back in the mid-1990's when movies had short formed titles like Mi2, MiB, and ID4?

Marketer 2: Oh yeah! That was SO cool when they did that! It really shows how smart we are as a species that we don't need to spell out the whole movie title.

Marketer 1: This is the best brainstorming session folks! Okay, so Optimus, ornage smoke and TF3 then?

Marketer 2 & 3: YAY!

Marketer 1: Okay, let's get Bay in here and talk about this teaser trailer. This is the third film so I don't think we should reveal anything to the public, cause they've probably forgotten what Transformers look like, so we only really need to show one comatose laying in a scrap heap.

-----------------------------------------

Frankly, after the fiasco that was Revenge Of The Fallen, I have VERY low hopes that the third will be better...however, Rose Huntington-Whitley playing Carly...coolio....no Megan (I'm a shit actress) Fox, even better, and HOPEFULLY Unicron....just saying.

Oh, and the bot at the end of the trailer...probably Alpha Trion...

Posted Image

...but don't mistake that as I won't see it. I totally will. I love Transformers. The second film is a fiasco compared to the first...but I still liked it on an eye-candy giant robots beat the hell out of each other viewpoint.

Glutton for punishment.

I just think they could have a WAY better marketing campaign is all.

Does it have big robots beating the shit out of eachother and transforming in to stuff? That's what I expect. I enjoyed the first two movies because they had those things.

Still scratch my head a bit at the thought that people wanted something else from them...

Seconded on all points.

Just a action packed roller coaster ride with not much story and where at times you couldnt tell who was fucking who up.
It was like watching two cars crash.

Im all for action and robots and all that but there is a line that needs to be drawn and hopefully this time the balance is better.

2 was fail because it worked in too many characters that you couldn't tell who the fuck was who, and tried for humour, and tried for 'over the top' silly shit for no reason (the robot girl thingy, the Jetfire teleport what, Devastator using a tornado... ).

Give us clear sets of good guy and bad guy robots throwing each other through buildings and maybe the US army getting into the mix for good measure and i'm fine.

This is a fairly good point about the various things wrong with the second one....only I would add the atrocious acting of Megan Fox to the mix of reasons. If you remove those things, you'd have a decent follow-up to the first one.

That's also alot of what went wrong with the second Bad Boys movie...trying to stuff too much and too much silly in....Michael Bay sometimes overdoes it.

The acting was equally quackshite in both. really. just crap. it's not why we're there in any event.

Michael Bay ALWAYS overdoes it. As he should. I want big crazy Bay kaboom with sunsets and splosions and doves in the firing line for no apparent reason.

It's when he overstupids it that we shift from fun to fail. Transformers 2 didn't need a tentacle robot pretending to be a sexy co-ed. It didn't need 'twin' characters who exist only to make little boys chuckle. And honestly why the fuck is Bumblebee, beautifully established as a kickass warrior in the first movie (Bumblebee. Fucking vw littlest transformer BUMBLEBEE!) then content to hang out in Lebeef's garage and act sad when denied the opportunity to sit on a campus parking lot serving as a pigeon target and sporadic ass rest for face-sucking students.... but i digress..

Another thing that annoys me:

I was quite excited when I saw the title cos in my proggy head it said Transformers: Dark Side of the Moon & I thought that it was some sort of tribute to prog rock whilst being about giants robots beating the snot out of each other. Now it will disappoint.

Anyone else prefer Optimus as a badass leader in TF1 over the Optimus beat-the-shit-out-of-like-5-ribits-at-the-same-time leader in TF2. I love the giant transforming robot fights, don't get me wrong, but Optimus in the first seemed less a fighter and more a leader y'a know?

Im split actually but agree with the analysis, TF1 Optimus, he stepped up to the plate when it was needed with the battles, took on the big dogs and left the others to play where as TF2, he was all action, shown the side him - the animated movie, decepticons assaulting Autobot city and Stan Bush kicks in, Optimus rath unleashed!

Trailer was a bit meh, to be honest. I'm not going to get into why Revenge of the Fallen was bad, you guys have pretty much hit the nail on the head. I'll just say I'm tentatively hopeful that with a more serious bent this won't be as craptastic as its predecessor was.

Also, Dark of the Moon sounds like the title of a very bad fantasy book. Or is Bay trying to be clever and making a dual Pink Floyd/Ozzy Osbourne reference?

I bet it is going to be a musical, using nothing but car crash noises and auto-tune.

I bet it is going to be a musical, using nothing but car crash noises, explosions, gun fire, women screaming and auto-tune.

If it did end up being that kind of experimental musical where the fighting itself is the score then the Movie wins.

I really hope there is a 2D version, because I can't watch 3D as it doesn't synch at all with my glasses prescription.

Tentative hopes for this one if Bay really did listen to the fans after the second one. Considering there was so much press about LaBeef, Bay etc actually admitting they fucked up on TF2 (:)) the optimist in me that has not yet been totally slaughtered by the wood-chipper of reality has his fingers crossed.

I dunno... i'm rather looking fwd to 120 minutes of Optimus and Megatrom sitting around, listening to Pink Floyd and smoking big fat cyber-spliffs that transform into big fat cyber-spliffs.

I must needs point out that in 1 Op cuts a Decepticon's head off with a sword. A sword. A SWORD!!!! And later fights Megs by throwing him thru buildlings. Those so called 'leader' moments were thinly veiled pauses to move Op from one fight scene to the next in finest Bay fashion.

They've danced around it more than coming out and saying it sucked - it did make tall dollars however feeble it was.

I always thought it was funny that all the stuff that people complained about in the first one (AKA not being able to discern robot from robot from cityscape backdrops) was fixed in TF2...like everytime there was a big battle it was on a stark one coloured backdrop (like the forest fight where Optimus dies and the desert with the Fallen ect.) so that it looked glorious!....but the story suffers for some reason....LOL. So in 3 I am going to be optimistic and hope that he took the advice from the feedback of 1 AND 2...and applied it to 3 so that 3 is a nice mix of the two, hopefully making for a great third one.

Okay. This brand new trailer... TOTALLY renews my faith in the series!!!

Fuck this just looks balls to the wall EPIC. Optimus and Bumblebee rolling into battle....I got fucking goosebumps....also when Optimus says that the Earth govt hasn't been fully honest with them and that "They've made a grave mistake." SO chillingly awesome.

The only shocker there is that apparently in all their time on earth not a single autobot watched ten minutes of 24 or Conspiracy Theory or something and thought 'Hey, i wonder if the gov is telling us everything...'

Motherfucking Shockwave wielding a chain laser gun. Fuck yeah!

Right, so riddle me this, how in the fuck are they possibly going to macgyver their way out of a full on invasion of Transformers? Are they going to find the deus ex machina hidden on the moon that just so happens to have a killswitch for all the robots?

Ah, who cares. It's going to be giant robots blowing up shit for two hours and I am going to love it.
