The hardcovers for the series at amazon puts the book at a different number of pages, and now I'm confused. Which one should I buy? What is the correct book?
Bantam 304 pages:
http://www.amazon.co...90068409&sr=1-4
Tor 720 pages
http://www.amazon.co...90068409&sr=1-4
It is the same problem with the paperback versions (not mass market)
How does it go from 304 pages to 720 and then to 1056?
Is it all just because of dimensional size differences? (Which aren't that big to begin with.)

The page counts given there are inaccurate, that's all.
"Here is light. You will say that it is not a living entity, but you miss the point that it is more, not less. Without occupying space, it fills the universe. It nourishes everything, yet itself feeds upon destruction. We claim to control it, but does it not perhaps cultivate us as a source of food? May it not be that all wood grows so that it can be set ablaze, and that men and women are born to kindle fires?"

Hardback/Trade Paperback is 720 pages, mass market paperback is 1000+. 304 is just a random number that's not correct.

304 is just the number of stabbings.

Maybe they forgot to count the back of every page.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.
