Hi, I finished GotM recently and just started DG. Obviously, things are getting clearer. However, I have a question.
I don't understand the whole part after Paran touches the dead hound's (killed by Rake) blood. More precisely, his actions. Why does he want to save the hounds that are trapped in dragnipur? If Rake hadn't intervened, Shadowthrone would definitely have killed Paran, am i right? So, why?
And why does he use Oponn to rescue the hounds? I'm guessing because Oponn was using him a tool all this while and he wanted to get back at them. But I think, Oponn did him a favor by giving him a second chance. Otherwise, Paran would have to pass through Hood's gate. So, why the hate?

The chained hounds would've toppled the big wagon to the side, making pulling it a lot... harder. Hounds wouldn't relent in attempting to break the chains, ever. Paran virtually averted Dragnipur failing (more to come on that in later books).

I would never have imagined that. I was surprised by Paranīs action, too. But now I have a new question: How did Paran know that? Simply he entered Dragnipur, and realized that the wagon needed to be balanced? Too smart for an average guy trapped into such a nightmare world!
And what will be Anomanderīs response? Oh, thank you for balancing my punishment car? Or it will be like Iīm going to kill you for free my prisoners?
