After Yuan Shao's attack, Peng Ji returned in his boat and sped back to Yuan Shao. "Have you learned anything worthwhile?" asked Shao. Peng Ji showed the Prime Minister the letter. "That's how the villains repay my kindness!" roared Yuan Shao, "They and all their clans will die for this, but first we shall use them." Just then Zhang Yun and Wen Ping were announced. They lead in a third man, hands bound. "This warrior claims to be an officer of Zhang Xiu who has been sorely abused and wishes to defect," they said. "His name is Hu Che'er." Yuan Shao eyed the man, who was 8 spans tall and covered in scars, a fearsome warrior for sure. So, they bring in this man to assassinate me, he thought. "This defection is a ruse," pronounced Yuan Shao, and signalled to the guards to remove the man and execute him. Zhang Yun and Wen Ping were shocked. Yuan Shao declared, "Let that be a warning to any who contemplate treason." Zhang Yun and Wen Ping retired, shaken.

Hu Che'er, a defecting officer, or maybe a ruse of Jia Xu, is dead. (Mockra and Silencer)

who would have thought they would use that action last night on day 2? but it puts them in a very strong position. one of the opposing leaders should do this back to them tonight. that is 2 nights in a run my actions have failed.

Home. One would expect a civilized western country capable of organizing a WC bid should be able to deal with some snow without it affecting the public transport, but alas.

My internet is messed up, half the time my connection times out, so I will probably not post much in the next two hours.

The Operation is interesting, but not fully surprising. Teams are balanced and still looking for who is with whom, HZ/XZ is now a night behind in that respect.

As for HZ/ZX using theirs, as Rashan urges.... why? It was already said that each Op has unique effects, so the ZH/XZ one may do something completely different. As such, I advocate leaving its use to the descrition of the guy who actually knows what it does.

Yuan Shao faced his chief strategist, "Are the preparations ready? If we attack en masse, will your infiltrators set fire to the supply depot? Will they sound bombards to alert us to enemy ambushes? Have you DONE ANYTHING AT ALL?!" The strategist did not so much as twitch. "I am uncertain, my lord. I have not received any secret messages in many days." "Enough with these games," Yuan Shao shouted. "Tonight, we strike! Send the signals to your spies, if they are still alive." The chief strategist bowed and left.

At dawn, Yuan Shao's five contingents closed upon the enemy from all sides. Lü Kuang and Lü Xiang each lead a contingent against Huang Zhong's forces encamped in Fang Ling, while Zhang Yun and Wen Ping bombarded Zhang Xiu's naval base on the river. Yan Liang's cavalry roamed the terrain between the camps eliminating any scouts and Yuan Shao personally commanded a regiment of catapults to bombard the enemy fortifications. With the enemy on all sides, the defenders could do nothing but try and hold their walls.

----

Add Serc and we arrive at a 7 name YS side. 8 with Ji Peng.

I expect Ji Peng to be an actual role. The Lü brothers already featured in Serc's demise, I guess they are fictional, or maybe one of them is and they show up together in each story. Wen Ping is a recurring name, and Zhang Yun shows up in both the letter posted at Venge's demise and now in two scenes.

Cause we don't suffer severe winters such as the rest of Europe, this blizzard we've got is the worst in decades. Ok the last 3 winters have been worse than the previous so I'm not looking forward to next years when it comes.

And I actually agree with Korabas about the operations the best person to decide to deploy them is the guy who has the ability.

Well I am back and read up. It Looks like Vengy was telling the truth... I waded through his Death scene and it looks like he was a defecting spy working against YS. This lends more Credence to the Rashan is full of shit camp as well as puts Galain in a very bad light. When a finder comes up dead, rants before he is lynched and his CF comes back as him telling the truth... well, my only dilema is wondering if I should vote Galain or Rashan.

I am of a mind to think that Rashan was/is the operations master for YS as he was worried pre resolution that he might be NK'd.. I am wondering if he shot his load early and excecuted the maneuver. Him then coming on and spouting that "whah whah I didn't get to use my NA again last night" only makes me think he really did use it last night. So, i think I am more of a mind to go after the other person that Ruse implicated: Galain

vote Galain

Though I would be fine voting for Rashan as well... I can't believe we have, time and again, let people play the newby card and get away with it. Suspect behavior is suspect behavior , regardless of if it's from new or veteran. It's been shown time and again.

Now if my reading of the scene was wrong, enlighten me but what I got from it was....

YS's spy came down the river and met with the HZ officer. They got drunk and in the middle of the night, the YS spy went to the generals desk and found a letter the letter was from the naval comanders saying that Ruse/Vengence was fake working for YS and feeding him disinformation. Then the YS spy got up and left the camp. Did I read this wrong? It was like wading through Caramel trying to get all the names straight. If someone read it a different way, my vote might not make much sense. I am interested to hear others take.

gonna read the night resolution next as that looks tricky too.

Yeah but just casting Operations willy nilly just cause Yuan Shau has done so is more likely to mean the operation is used at the wrong time.

Rereading Vengys death... was the letter a plant? Hmm

remove vote

need to think this through.

And the Mockra death... the CF is unclear. He was Originally on HZ/XZ he was either defecting, or fake defecting. Regardless, it looks like the HZ/XZ team lost another.

@ SR: that is how I read it, as well.

Regarding where to go:
If Rashan is the Op master, he shot his load and is now more or less harmless and thus, an easy sacrifice for his own team to make. As such, I would be weary of voting him..... the YS killer may well be watching that train to see who kick starts it for a HZ/ZX player to kill.
Galain... he's been smart. However, bear in mind that if Venge was correct, did a find on Rashan and Rashan is YS, then Venge did no find on Galain on account of getting lynched day 2 thus having had only 1 NA. We then have only speculation.

Well he(Venge) said he could see who he(Rashan) was in bed with. To me this means he either saw corespondence, or that he saw a role PM. Why else would he name galain?

EDIT: Added the clarification as I said "He" way to many times.

Woooooo that was an interesting read-up. Peng Ji is back several times, so yeah, I think he's probably a real character in this game. He appears to be a Spy working FOR Yuan Shao.

Also, I'd take Ruse's reveal with a grain of salt... he was Cai Mao... a SPY and apparently working for YS?

During the evening, Peng Ji recognized a familiar face in the minor officers. Catching his eye, Jia Xu said, "That is the fearless Cai Mao. He commanded Jiang Ling until Yuan Shao's forces took the city and fled across the province to join us here for revenge." Believing him to be a spy for Yuan Shao and wishing not to foil Cai Mao's deception, Peng Ji prepared to leave.

So first we have Peng Ji NOT wanting to out Cai Mao because Peng Ji is, himself, a spy for Cai Mao.

Jia Xu interrupted him, "We have not shared a couch for many a year, my friend. Tonight we share a bed foot-to-foot." Thoroughly intoxicated, he led Peng Ji arm in arm into his bedchamber and there collapsed, sprawling into bed fully dressed and vomiting copiously. How could Peng Ji sleep? He lay on his pillow, listening. Looking about the tent, he saw the wasted candle still giving light. On the table Peng Ji noticed a sheaf of documents. He rose and stealthily looked through them: among the correspondance was a letter from Zhang Yun and Wen Ping, Yuan Shao's new naval commanders. He peeked at the contents:

We surrendered to Shao by dint of circumstance, not for wealth or rank. We have tricked the northern army by enclosing it inside the large ships. The moment we have the chance, we will deliver the traitor Shao's head to you. Cai Mao will be our contact in your camp: Yuan Shao believes he is spying for him, but he will feed Shao all the false information you wish and keep you updated on our plans within the Prime Minister's camp. Have no doubts. Herein our respectful reply.
Then we have Peng Ji finding a letter from Zhang Yun and Wen Ping... two of Yuan Shao's new commanders... but apparently these commanders are actually working AGAINST YS. The letter says that they were forced to surrender, but will deliver Shao's head. It says that Cai Mao will be the contact for these two men, and says that Cai Mao is also a spy but working "against" YS, feeding him false information. So it's possible Cai Mao has had some contact with YS.

As soon as Peng Ji had departed, Jia Xu called for armed guards to arrest and execute Cai Mao as a traitor. Had Peng Ji flushed out Cai Mao's disguise?[/hr]
The last part is actually kind of weird... Peng Ji gets the hell out of dodge and Jia Xu ends up executing Cai Mao... who was on his side? The scene suggests Peng Ji flushed out the disguise, which I would normally think indicates Peng Ji showed Cai Mao was really a spy... but he was a spy for a faction... that was working with Jia Xu... and against Yuan Shao. So did Cai Mao get executed by his own faction?
The reason I ask is because we need to figure out which side Ruse was really on... If he was working against YS, then I want to lynch Rashan to simultaneously prove that I'm not allied with him AND that I'm not on the YS faction.

okay korabas you are a little crazy saying that he should read the thread yet you didn't even realise you had a vote on Tiamatha, then on me and then stating you got one on him. to me you are playing a very good game, i cannot place you on any faction, i like the fact that you keep hunting tiam down, this makes me suspect you have a finders role and that you are able to find alignment, location or role. what was it you found with your night action? in fact we have had one night where we had a death, alot of people would have had actions too, which leads me to believe a lot of people know of things they are not sharing. is this because they don't know who to trust?

umm, what?
you're asking for a revealfest on Day 2, in a FACTION game. where we have no idea what the numbers are.

seriously?

:p

Sorry for that formatting, that was bad.

Anyway, now we the Operation... really, it's hard to imagine that being activated by Ruse's death. Seems likely he was against the YS faction. I really don't see much use in using the operation if you are worried about dying. Maybe whoever used it had a BP that was spent the night before?

Finally, Mockra's CF. Very interesting. Not sure how that relates to the Spy role from Ruse. A fake defection would be something I'd assume a Spy would do.
