Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

Like I wrote in the other chat thread I've donated 10 dollars via the paypal. We just need another 10 dollars. That's one dollar per person if people are feeling really fucking cheap.
It would be cool if we could have bigger gatherings on there.

Where the donation button at?
This will be money well spent.

Well, that WAS kind of the original plan.
But then we have to get users to download, and set up, and then USE the mIRC client. That, and it probably wouldn't be hosted by us, whereas this is.
I'd much prefer to use mIRC, but I just can't see the userbase getting behind something that is site-independent. This way, we have the chat integrated into the forum, which means it gets used more, and doesn't require external software.

theres a private torrent site that i visit that has set up mIRC so that you can view it through the website using java...you simply click the "chat" icon and it takes you into the mIRC chatroom with no install needed of mIRC, as for how they did it... beats me!

They probably use the server-side client interface, then. But that probably means they are hosting it themselves, too.
What I really want is a mIRC hook for the forums! I can't believe no-one has made one yet for mIRC on IPB v 3...weird. :S

Oh, THIS is where those posts were.
Nvm.
Uhm. If anyone is up to stress-testing the chat, I need four more people to hop in and see if we have the upgraded chat or if more needs to be changed, please...
(And Mibbit is terrible...get that link away from me! D:)
