Sadly, he isnt me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like hes me. Look down, back up, where are you? Youre in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. Whats in your hand, back at me. I have it, its an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. Im on a quorl.

The release date for this is February 2011 in the UK, what would the release be for the US? Judging by Toll and RotCG, it would be about 3 months later, yes? Why does it take so long when the book doesn't even need to be translated?

I can't answer, but starting with BH I refused to wait and I get it from the UK. It arrives about a week later. Screw the extra expense--I want it ASAP.

absolutely the first thing I thought of. I was always a fan of the Codex Alera's cover art because it was always so well done.
That said, I love the art for TCG. Just fantastic, but most of SE's books have had great art.

Did that seriously say the UK release was pushed back behind the US release? Looking at Amazon, UK is due the 21st, while according to that link the global release date is 15th and it's the UK that's just pushed it back.

While it's awesome that the US is getting it at the same time as everyone else, Bantam or whoever decided to push the UK release date back is just spitting on Malazan fans. I guess this must be the States' compensation for having to put up with shitty cover art for 7/10 books.

I think Tor was sloooowly catching up to Bantam, to the point where TtH came out only 2 months later on this side of the Atlantic. I don't what the deal was that delayed the Tor release of DoD, but at least they're making up for it this time around.

I don't think that amazon can be correct on that release date, seems odd that it would be out here first. I still plan on ordering from the UK though just so my collection is all UK cover art.
edit: I know it is supposed to be true, but years of conditioning have me believing otherwise.

Silanah's aspect is Thyr and the Otataral dragon is named Korabas.
Ublala is one of my favourite characters - if you didn't love him before you certainly will when you've read this book.

Looks fantastic. I like the contuinity in covers. And the bodies on the front reinforce the "fallen soldiers" aspect of the books too.
Its up there with the DG and RG covers (UK) which are my favourites.

The summary says the Forkrul are drawing upon an alien power to wipe out humanity, right? The Chained One is always refered to as alien to everyone else. They must be going for the lad, who has a part in Kolanse, which is where the are, genociding teh southern kingdoms of Kolanse. Oh, which is just where Tavore wants to go.
The Forkrul subdue you by affectinbg your name.
Tavore is always called unknowable and unpredictable.
Could there be a major offing for the coffin coming for them?
