I've had a quick look and couldn't see any post's about this yet...

So what do think is going on in this scene and who do you think is who...I wouldn't like to guess at this point!!!

But if you zoom in, that very much looks like a dragon in the firery clouds!!!

Could be Great Ravens in there, but frankly, the fiery giant Balrog doesn't make any sense.

If it's supposed to be a dragon... Tiam? Korabas? CG's mommy?

Looks like a dragon to me. A suspiciously orange dragon.

Clearly the figure at the front is none other than Neffarious Bredd.

You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

Looks like an elephant to me. Lots of Great Ravens in the clouds. Couldn't even begin to guess at the swordsman's identity.

Ok, that's a pretty damn cool cover. I can see two dragons in that. One down the left, which seems to be more flames in the shape of a dragon's head, and what everyone is terming 'the Balrog'. :p When I looked at it I figured the 'horn' to be a tail, since there isn't another on the other side of the head, and I can't conceive of something just having one massive horn on the side of its head. Plus, Erikson's dragons don't seem to sport horns.

@ Apt's 2nd edit: I thought it might be Fener too, but now I'm not so sure. There's not even a hint of jade there, which I was surprised at, and as far as I recall dragons (and that is a dragon head at the side) have nothing to do with the jade giants. Plus Heboric is the one hurtling towards the earth, Fener is cowering in the Errant's temple.

Could be we're making too much of it though. Maybe that's how two dragons bone and the swordsman is just a filthy perv?

This line of covers was always connected to story, so I wouldnt guess its different in final.

Part with dead lying on battleground is great. That big bastard is IMO Korabas. Isnt otataral colored in cca this fashion? It doesnt have to be flames, just for example sun shaded by really large amount of otataral.

But who the hell is the man (?) in front? It looks more like Brys than any Malazan...and its definetly NOT Kindly...:p

hmmm... not a horn, but a tail? it's a possibility, though the placement and style of it would be pretty weird for a tail. Then again, you know, fantasy novel.

I'm going to have to agree that it looks like Korabas.
Korabas is the only dragon named in the synopsis so I believe there is a good chance that that is her. him. it?

but are we sure that it is a dragon?
I always believe that the crippled god had something up his sleeve and a huge, intimidating body like that would fit the bill IMO.

And perhaps the human is Yedan Derryg?
