So I;, going to get the full picture of House of Chains tattooed on my left arm. The way the image is the tattoo artist said he would recommend that i put it on my right arm because of the the way the characters are facing. I'm thinking of inverting the image so i can put it on my left arm. What do you guys think? Should I go with the original artworkand put it on the right arm or get a mirror image on the left? The artist guy was giving me a bunch a shit for wanting it on my left. Help me out guys what do you all think?

'Aye.' It's a good word. I think. More a whole attitude than a word, really. With lots of meaning in it, too. A bit of 'yes' and a bit of 'well fuck' and maybe some 'we're all in this together.' So a word to some up the Malazans. <Sunrise>

If the tattoo artist is good, then i'd probably listen to his advice.

Inverting an image can totally change the feel, especially as we are so used to the "flow" of an image going from left to right. If you are leaning towards having it put on your left arm, then i'd suggest printing out the inverted version, and look at it over a period of a few days, to see if it still has the same appeal to you.

If you put it on your left arm upside-down then it will look just fine from your perspective.

Great idea but be sure to give the original artist credit somewhere in the ink.:shocking:

The reason the tattoo artist suggested that you get it on your right arm, was because in the subculture of tattoos, it's correct for the image to face forewards. If you get it on your left arm, (is it karsa in the image?) would be facing behind you, they call it a backwards tattoo. The only reason he's warning you about it because from the artistic perspective having him face backwards looks off and most times awkward to the eye. Having the image face forewards is more visibly appealing. Whether you invert it or choose the other arm I think that would make a sweet half sleeve.

So I'm the only person who thinks getting something as detailed as that picture tatooed on the small surface of an arm is ridiculous.

I always wondered what the scene depicts. Karsa kneeling with his blood-sword is a given. The rest I think is Hounds of Shadow finishing off one of the Teblor gods (Urugal)?

But yeah, it never happens.

Who be the bloke in the background? Is that a chariot he's riding?

I always thought it was the 7 faces in the rock, because of the praying like stance mixed with Icarium's message in hieroglyphic form.

So.... basically it's made up.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....
