Question about US paperback editions

I asked this on another board once but no one seemed to understand my question. It seems seems the MMPBs are being converted to a different shape. They're the same length across the cover, but they have like an inch more of height. It's a pretty ugly shape tbqh. Anyway I have the first three in the old, normal MMPB format, plus a couple of random later ones that I got as a gift but haven't read yet. The stores around here have all switched to the new size, but I really don't want alternating sizes on my bookshelf.
So does anyone know of a website that sells these books, that specifies which MMPB format they are in? Every site I've looked at just says MMPB, so I don't know if they're selling the old format or the new one.
I appreciate any help, and will gladly clarify my request if it doesn't make sense.

Here's a good link I found: http://www.nytimes.c...ks/12paper.html
Basically, the new format MMPB is the same width as the standard (4.25"), but almost an inch taller (moving from 6.75" to 7.5"). Prices have also gone up a buck or two.
As far as I know, all of the new Dresden paperbacks are like this. And I don't think anyone distinguishes between the two formats (they're both just MMPBs), but sites like Amazon and publishers' websites will list the product dimensions.

"Here is light. You will say that it is not a living entity, but you miss the point that it is more, not less. Without occupying space, it fills the universe. It nourishes everything, yet itself feeds upon destruction. We claim to control it, but does it not perhaps cultivate us as a source of food? May it not be that all wood grows so that it can be set ablaze, and that men and women are born to kindle fires?"

Great link, Salt-Man. I hope that more publishers start to make books like this - the only reason I buy paperbacks is for the cost as I really hate their size.
uhm, that should be 'stuff.' My stiff is never nihilistic.

Personally, I hate 'em. Mostly because they won't fit on my bookshelves with my other MMPBs. And then you have series like Dresden and Codex Alera where the format changes halfway through. It's irritating.

Meh. I don't really pay much attention to how my bookshelf looks. The only series that I'd ever want to collect is Malazan, with the UK hardcovers.

It's not even so much a case of how the shelves look, but whether or not I can even fit the book on the shelf.

They are slowly converting all the Dresden Files and Codex Alera books to this way, so you CAN have them all in this new wonky size....just not all in the old size. I was annoyed cause all my Alera books up to Captain's Fury were regular, and then Princep's Fury was wonky. Me no likey.
That said, they are also slowly releasing all the Dresden Files that have never been in hardcover....in hardcover, so at least for Dresden you can have them all in nice hardback copies.

Yet again the ultimate expression of selfishness - the baby boomers - screw the rest of us over because enough of them are too stupid, lazy and/or vain to do the right thing and buy some reading glasses. I note sales of reading glasses "are up 11%", but up 11% from what?

It looks like amazon hasn't updated the dimensions in the description, so if I were to buy it I can't tell which one I would get. I guess I would be okay switching to the new size at some point, but like I said I have the first 3, plus Dead Beat and White Night in the old size. I would just switch to the new size starting with Summer Knight, but then Dead Beat and White Night would look really out of place.

The new size of MMPB books is a pet peeve of mine in that there is no noticeable difference in readability, but a 1 to 2 dollar increase in price. Really annoying for someone who is on a limited book budget...

It looks like they increase the size of the font, to me. And it irritates me because there's no good reason for that - text size was fine, before. People's eyes are getting screwed up because of too much time in front of technology, not books.
