Ha! I'm glad I didn't try to pretend that was my idea. I figured someone else was sure to have seen it on Reddit, and I was right.

How difficult would it be to make this happen? I know nothing of such things.

Not having looked into it much at all it'd need bukkit on the server and the multiverse plugin. It may be very simple to set up or it may be a real bugger, I can't say!

Anyone know if there is a way to host a world on the local machine as if it were server based so I can try it out?

Looks like the release of 1.8 is back a few days at the least.

At this rate, there isn't going to be a true 1.8 release. Jeb just updated the pre-release to a new version, and it's been stated that some things (like the return of snow biomes) have been pushed back to 1.9.

Server is updated to 1.8 and running. Woop!

Edit: Don't forget to update your theme packs.

Edit edit: First Enderman kill. They can't teleport up towers.

Have found the first village - 4222 1544, pic below.

In SSW direction we have a swamp, due South I think is a forest, South of the forest the desert where the village is. Endermen spawn round there quite a lot.

New biomes look good, nice to have some terrain that seems to have sense to it.

HiddenOne. You son of a bitch. You slimy, skulking, low-posting scumbag. You knew it would come to this. Roundabout, maybe. Tortuous, certainly. But here we are, you and me again. I started the train on you so many many hours ago, and now I'm going to finish it. Die HO. Die. This is for last time, and this is for this game too. For a "no structures because it isn't a new world" we have villages and I've just found a ravine complete with mine too. This isn't looking bad at all. Who'll find a stronghold?

Edit: Complete ravine and a freaking huge mine system. 2709, 3720 is where I went in. resources all over the place, a few chests too - only stuff I've taken is 4 melon seeds that I'm going to propagate.

Mines seem common in the new stuff, a slow loading surface chunk let me see the location of another one deep underground - anyone who wants to dig down pm me and I'll send you the location.

Is there a nether track leading to a distant point from which we can begin exploring new stuffs? I haven't been on MC in a couple weeks.

The track was never built. It's not even needed yet though. You can get to new chunks by heading west from the town for only about a day's walk. You can tell when you've gone far enough by when the sealevel changes.

Use a better browser? ;-)

Might be worth checking java is up to date - I've never run it in a browser so can't provide much advice I'm afraid.

Edit: Server is down. I'll try and bring it back up

Edit edit: Back up now.

OK, I had to remove all old Java, install new version. Then I had to update video card drivers. This caused various problems, but I finally got that worked out.

Now I can play, but the interface is different in my browser (smaller in proportion to overall size) Can we block with swords? Also, mobs seem very agressive, waiting outside my door, blowing up my wall, etc.

What does the experience do?

Interface size is set in Options / Video Settings / GUI Sclae
