Amnd now that I am out of my panic:

D'rek, you are a genius. I'd fly to Canada to give you a hug for this if there were no grizzlies there.

Yeah, the power rails rule. I made a basic transit system to Moon Spawn from Castle CF. I haven't experimented with switching yet.

Why is that panic-inducing? Squids are cute *and* harmless!

Thanks! Next minecraft update should add grizzlies!

Power rails look amazing. Hopefully I can get around to playing a bit and messing with them this week. As it is, I am stuck with no MC for a while yet.

And yes, Grizzlies

Hey

Having finished my thesis I'll now have some time to play around with minecraft. However, I can't seem to access the server.

It's OftenMorgoth, so that might be why...

It went down this morning I think. I was working on the dome, logged out, tried to log in again and it was offline.

Yes, it was a moment of scilence on the part of our taliban-run server farm for the loss of their leader.

Poor taste joke

My support ticket said that they had to go down for maintenance because of some major security patches that were just released. It's communicating again so I'll get it restarted as soon as possible

Sorry bout the outage but there was naught I could do.

EDIT: Ok, looks like its up and running again. Somebody please confirm.

There seems to be a few glitches.
I can't seem to open the chests in the spawn fort and when I tried to go cut a tree no wood appeared and the tree regenerated the block I just cut in 5 seconds.
Otherwise it's up and running.

Stuff around the spawn fort is unusable/uneditable so that the fort remains secure or something like that. The chests with the signs are therefore just a big tease. If you are away from the spawn everything should work fine. If you find you get regenerating blocks beyond the spawn fort it is probably just lag causing miscommunication between the server and your client.

Whoever has built the big sandstone egyptian tomb-like structure up north = very cool, I am impressed, but what's with the suspended flat plane of ground in front of it?

DW, any idea where you're going to setup shop? There's lots of open space south-east of spawn and there's a skyline already going in that direction beyond Apt's giant dome project.

I don't know what's up with the spawn fort.

The spawn chunk is indeed uneditable except by the admin. I have no idea how to turn that off it it's even possible. The goal is to make an area in which new players can spawn but is 100% uneditable to prevent griefing. In some extreme cases, servers will make a huge bedrock box around the spawn point and only let new players out into the world by giving them op status, which allows you to destroy and place bedrock.

It never used to give trouble with the chests or the doors, but apparently now neither doors nor chests work when you're on that chunk, unless you happen to be Cerveza_fiesta....which probably explains why I never noticed.

Slippery Jim is no longer using the server best I can figure. I was thinking of converting his fort into the new spawn fort. It's off the sacred spawn chunk and chests / everything should work perfectly there. I'll keep the existing spawn fort as an access to the skybridge for now.

If you're in game there DW, just ask one of the ops (me, kkjsoerensen, MalazTraveller, HiddenOne or HermanBarman). If we're online then we can spawn starter materials for you.

As for blocks not working properly or re-spawning, it's usually a lag issue and more often than not lately it seems to be on the user end. If resetting your modem doesn't help I can try resetting the server, but with a fresh restart today, the server should be running as fast as possible.

Or, now that we have power rails we set up an isolated spawn point away from the center area with a super rollercoaster that takes you from the spawn and hurls you into a big pool of water in the center or so...

The region where I've started expanding is seemingly devoid of life and filled with lush mountains and sizeable forests. Furthermore, it's easy to get to from the sadly outdated minecart station beneath my original castle.

Is that over by the cathedral morgoth?

You should replace that lag-inducing booster relic with some booster tracks asap.

I will go check out your area next time I'm on. Last time I logged off it was in the middle of an adventure to new areas and I ended up at Traveller's place. I haven't seen his dockside village yet.
