The way I've seen it is that they can (usually) live to around 300 years of age or so. Kellanved was somewhat over 200 years old when he ascended, and he was referred to as truly looking old.

As far as I can tell, this is just an opinion. I'm still looking/waiting for an actual, textual reference to a mage's age besides Tattersail's - this includes Kellanved. We don't know much other than the Malazan Empire's been around about a hundred years and he ascended fairly recently, about ten years from the start of the series.

Also, GotM references Baruk as an Ascendant, so he probably is not just a normal mage.
