Very cool.

Some nitpickery: Jaghuts are green. I also believe their Tusks are much more prominent, I also doubt their physiology and facial make-up is quite that human looking. Oh, and I suspect that Sillannah is much, much bigger than that. Like the size of battle ship that grew wings and limbs.

The art is good, but a little point.

Raest is a dessicated corpse and even were he alive, his skin would be green(ish)

Reminds me of The Minds Eye / Beyond The Minds Eye CGI videos of the early 90's.... ummm, which (as that was 20 years ago almost) isn't really a compliment.... but A for effort?

I really tried to make Raest's skin green. I really did. But I didn't want to make it Hulk green, more of like grayish green. When I added the light source, it kind of washed out the green and made it gray. As to the dessicated corpse look. I really thought about it and Erickson's text did describe him as corpse like. But then I took a look at Komarck's painting of the same scene and his Raest looked amazing even from the back. I exercised a bit of artistic license to make Raest look like in his prime. As to making his tusks larger, I thought about it and making his tusks larger didnt make sense. I really dont like to make it too large because form should follow function. What did the Jaghut use their tusks for? I would understand a sabretooth tiger using it to stab or slash their prey and so their fangs were really large but what do the Jaghut use them for. Their lower jaws would have to be really large and protruding to accomodate such a large tusk and I cant imagine that.

I love seeing new artists entries here.

I'd love to see more from you. Welcome and great first effort.

You're probably right. I'm not really quite satisfied with the scene. Still needs lot of improvement to make it less cg.

It looks nice, except for thos little factual inconsistencies, like mentioned above: Raest's skin colour, the fact that he is a corpse and also that his body was almost torn apart with magic :D And I don't think Silanah managed to get that close to him during their fight, but that's really a minor issue.

nitpicky stuff aside - it's an awesome pic regardless.

Now I want to see a second version with the four other black dragons!

Actually at least one of the dragons, if not several, came right up close on a fly by and tore through him with their claws. That was some of the first damage he took, I believe it was a surprise attack but my memory is fuzzy.

Silanah was trying to take Raest head on and got her ass handed to the Jaghut. But when he was dealing with her, one of the black dragons managed to grab him in his claws.

Well he has to have been alive at one point to be a corpse now.. so consider it more of a random fight with a random dragon? Still the skin color does bug me abit, but nothing that can't be fixed by running it through photoshop I suspect. And I happen to agree with your view on the tusks jquin, even if they're large they simply can't be over a certain size without messing up your face.. and I imagine they'd get in the way of things like eating and drinking if they somehow managed to be really large without really messing up your face.

Overall pretty neat stuff, keep it up! :(
