Nah,
In MoI when they are talking about Tay being a Chimera. Tays (I take you figured it out) was Arthantos the standard bearer. Rake knew it was well. Im not sure who said the chimera thing, there probly was someone, but when they said it they meant metaphoricly he is a chimera.

In reference to Kura Qans, I think maybe he was talking about Binadas or the Pack. Most definately NOT Tayschrenn. In my opinion there is NO connection. With Tayschrenn argument on how powerful he is, there is some debate on it of course. Rake in my opinion could floor Tayschrenn anytime, maybe with a little trouble but not much.
"it seems Tays has become a lot stronger recently."
What do you mean there ? Because your referencing of peoples arguments and different perspectives on the malazan forum. It would be much better to try and refer to the book instead to get a solid argument on how powerful Tay might be. If you my opinion (again) Tay is NOT in the deck of dragons, Tay has NOT become more powerful recently.
"Or am I reading way to much into this"
Yes you are...

Just a note.. A LOT of people read way too much into these books on the forums and make an already complicated series much more complicated. Be very careful when reading peoples posts on here.

In MOI: It was Silverfox who made the referance to Chimera...

I'd love to see Tayschrenn square off against Cowl. The most powerful Malazan Mage against the most powerful Crimson guard mage. Though you have to wonder if Cowl is human.

Forgive me if this has been mentioned before but I just noticed something in my recent reread of the all the books. In MoI as I recall at one point someone mentions that Tayschrenn is a chimera in truth near the end of the book, it might have been Koralt but I don't remember exactly. And in MT on page 331 Kura Qan says that the Shapeshifter of the unalinged of the tiles has become a chimera. And the way he says it, it sounds like this is very recent.

These are the only times I recall a chimera being mentioned, and it seems to me that there is connection. Also in another topic comparing Tays to Rake people were aguring Rake would easily win like at Pale, while others said "look at what Tays did at Coral". Looking at those two incidents it seems Tays has become a lot stronger recently. And I would think becoming part of the Tiles (which seems exactly like the Deck) would indicate great strength.

So the facts vaguely fit, and these only two mentions of a chimera seem like they should be connected in some way. Right? Or am I reading way to much into this?

To offer another explanation, Silverfox is soletaken, as per GotM when they made her in the first place, altho we haven't seen her form yet.

She's also the combination of three souls tied together.

The term 'Chimera' typically refers to a person who is has multiple selves/personalities/aspects which are all very different, along the lines of the lion/goat/scorpian/dragon myth creature.

So MT was referring to Silverfox, perhaps precognitively, while Sfox's comment in MoI is ironic - she's referring to Tay having many faces, while in truth she is the Chimera.

Thus, the link exists, but it's subtle.

You may now marvel at my deductive brilliance. Posted Image

- Abyss, like Sherlock Holmes without the morphine and doctor sidekick.

This would go well in the Crazy Theory section in Bonehunters. But you make an interesting point. This has never been mentioned, and Tays level of power is a pretty huge debate heres the link

As for him being a part of the Tiles, I see no reason as to why not, but I'd find that unlikely.

Chimera :
a fire-breathing she-monster...
the interpretation would be Silverfox's knowledge of Tays ability to use Tellas.

The Shapeshifter thing - it's actually Shapefinder not shapeshifter - a subtle difference, but does seem connected to The Pack.

After reading NoK I think Tays has a few more surprises in store for us Posted Image
