This is what i reckon has happened, first time i read it instantly got me thinking "has he pulled another fast one"

Dont think he would abandon his fellows but maybe needed to buy himself some time!

why though? we know he has placed himself firmly against the crippled god, he has his acorns and doesn't he also have a direct path to burns realm? when he actually saw what the crippled god was doing to burn? so why do you think he disappeared at this point?
