When To Read?

I have just begun MoI, and now came across these characters for the 1st time (unless I really blanked somewhere in GotM & DG

), when is the best time to read these further adventures? At the end of MoI, after later books, or does it matter? Thanks

It really doesn't matter. When in doubt I always go by publication order, but in this case it makes no difference.

Since you're currently on MoI, might as well finish it off, but then you can read BF, LoLE and tHD any time thereafter.

Finish the series as well as the ICE books first I say. B&KB are pretty good, but they're a lot different from other stuff set in the Malazan universe, and have 0 impact on the other books.

Thanks for the input. I guess I'll finish MOI, try to get a better understanding of these characters - since I've only just met them -- maybe try to read the novellas along w/ HOC next, hmmm ... oh, what to do, what to do...

You can read them at any time, but I strongly suggest reading them after HOC... because there's something you learn in that book about the Malaz world that will make one part in the B&KB books way funnier.
