As I fucking said, my phone died despite being fully charged. I expected to be home 3 hours ago at least, but passed put on a train. It was an unfortunate scenario, and had my phone not broken, I would've picked through Brood around 8 hours ago. I couldnt plan for this, but I'd like to point out that I specified well in advance that I wouldnt be around to pick until 6pm BST earliest (so 5 hours late on that, whoopdy doo), I stayed up til 2am yesterday hoping my pick would come around again so clearly want to be involved, I fucking suggested the thing in the first fucking place as another piece of evidence, I've been in meetings all bloody day (painful) discussing a possibly defunct CT strategy which I could never have responded to anything during anyway, the unexpected leaving of one of my closest colleagues which left me with shit loads of immedaite work to catch up on, I'm caned, and do any of you fucking remember last year. I organised the whole bastard thing, and we waited up to 48 hours for some picks. The season isnt for ages, we wouldnt be doing anything yet anyway without me having said something, you waited well under 24 hours even given ridiculously flukish and unfortunate circumstances, and I would've hoped you'd be slightly more forgiving in the circumstances.

Oh I might have been more considerate had you not kept us waiting over twelve hours yesterday and had it not been mentioned several times that people who were unable to make their picks should PM their prefered picks so we could keep things moving. As for last year, I certainly remember, and I'm well aware we waited 48 hours and the draft took us six weeks, a complete and utter disaster, something we are trying to avoid this time around. You're not the only one with a demanding job. Shit happens I get that, but your piss poor attitude as well as your informing us the same thing was likely to happen tomorrow, making everyone wait again, leaves much to be desired and also means you're not getting any sympathy from me or likely anyone else who's been waiting for you.

Yeah, I agree. People have been on and off the board all day/night (20+ hours) trying to get their picks in. None of us want a repeat of last year. The least you could do is check the board before work, borrow a phone, or have some picks set aside with Brood or someone in case you can't make it in time. The same goes for everyone involved.

Listen the bottom line here is that this is supposed to be fun. I hate getting pissed off like this, but I hate waiting and people who are inconsiderate of others even more. There are eleven other people in the league, we can't have all of them waiting and things at a stand still every day because you choose to go to the pub after work. I get that you're not well, hopefully you sober up and feel better tomorrow. Please give brood or someone else your picks, so we aren't stuck in the same situation, if not we'll give you the highest ranked player at the appropriate position once the time limit has passed. Hope you feel better.

In the sober-ish period twixt vomits, I must confess I possibly should've been more apologetic, and I am rueful for my....hostile....overtones, if I can put it that way. And so I apologise now. My thinking was genuinely though that I'd be able to text Brood today like the system us two had last year, which worked well. Unfortunately broken phone (which i specifically charged last night to make sure it'd be fine, worked well), horrendous work and family day, and alcoholism all combined to ensure I fucked up the timing. Brood now has my backup list so shouldn't happen again, but there you go.

I should like to point out that this is as close to an apology as I've ever made for anything, including to my biology teacher in year 10 for smacking her bum (mistakenly I hasten to add), so as shite as it is, this is as good as it may get. :)

EDIT: Wait, that's not the right emoticon

Apology accepted my dear and thank you for sending the back up list to Brood, I really appreciate that. I'm sorry if it seems like you got hit with a wall of anger when you showed up, I do understand life happens. The cell phone dying is a perfectly acceptable reason for being unavailable. Plus I was cranky after working a twelve hour shift and seeing a ridiculous number of bitchy, unreasonable, and unwell patients today. I think the others were irritated at the wait, and as you say your drunken response, which led to their being less than impressed. We still love you though, so it's all good. Consider it water under the bridge.

Oh and you slapped your teachers ass??? Knowing you I'm not sure I believe that was an accident! :)

Ok, here we go:

A bit tipsy at the moment so I hope this comes off coherently, but I think we need a thread on this site that allows people to meet, post personal info and hook up via internet! It has always been my dream to meet a cute girl who is into Fantasy books and Metal music. What better place to find them than here?

On this thread people should put:
1. Basic personal info
2. What they are looking for(in a guy or girl)
3. Picture(s)
4. How to contact

The new Malazan dating system!!!!

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say you're more than a little tipsy. You have to be if you're suggesting something like this. I don't think we need to turn this into a personal dating service, I doubt very many people are going to be keen on giving out personal info, including contact info for the whole of the interwebz to see. Not to mention we have few enough females on this board, we don't need to chase them off by having them hounded by people looking for a hook up and I'm pretty sure most of us are taken anyways. I'll keep my eye out for malazan reading, metal loving girls and send them your way if I see them though. Of course I could be wrong and others might like your idea, you could always try just starting the thread, not sure the mods would like it either though.

Wow, you're up late, Tehol.

Gotta agree with you though, I don't think the site would really benefit from a hook-up thread. I mean, you'd have to live in the same country, be of a similar age, single, interested...wouldn't generate enough traffic or compatibility even if people were into it. Besides, most of the relatively few females on here I'm pretty sure are either taken or wouldn't be interested.

Yes it is late for me, I've been working crazy hours lately and my days have been extra long because I've taken over a collieagues patients, plus my personal life is pretty busy as well. My sleep pattern is completely turned around. How are you doing my Girldfiend?

Sorry to hear that Tehol, I only recently got my sleeping pattern back on track myself, I know how terrible it is. How long are you taking your colleague's patients for?

As for me, I'm doing pretty well. Had a pretty awesome mid-year break, and now I'm back at uni. Procrastinating for an early assignment at the moment, but aside from needing a better job (who doesn't?), couldn't really ask for much more at the moment, I'm having a ball.

The first day that that the temperatures rise into the region that can be referred to as comfortably hot and I have to drive in the sun with no aircon and a hangover. Not sure whether to be happy about the weather or irritated :)

Getting your sleeping pattern fixed is a mission - if I'm left to my own devices I fall into a 'sleep at 2am, wake at 10am' pattern very quickly, then I always have to struggle for a week or to get back into the up at 5am work routine again.

Technically it's 05:15, but it is still pretty early. I work at a power station. Work starts at seven (which tends to be the norm in south africa unless you work in retail, then it is eight) and it's a 35km drive from my house with lots of traffic. And I'm the first stop on the bus route that picks up about fifteen other people, so I have to be ready at five to six. I could probably sleep in until about twenty to six if I drove myself, but getting up a bit earlier is worth having two hours a day to read and saving a lot of money on petrol. I know a couple of people who have worse schedules, the traffic in Gauteng is really bad - if you have to travel a significant distance you need to be on the road by 05:30 or you will spend two or three hours stuck in traffic.

Wow, work usually starts for most people here (including me) at nine, unless you're a tradie or something. Now the earliest I have to be at uni is ten as well, so I'm never up before seven. Traffic jams are pretty non-existent in the two cities I live in too. *realises he has it good* If I have to go to Melbourne in the morning it's pretty ridiculous though. Usually takes me forty-five minutes, but in the morning might take me two and a half to three hours.
