I hate that term more than I could ever possibly describe.

Who Spain? I'm happy Italy Portugal and Argentina are our of it. I can't stand them. I hope Uruguay get their asses handed to them in the next game, such a bunch of cheaters, they should be ashamed.

Nah, of the teams left I'm left with sheer emotional rooting. Ghana makes me not want to cheer for Uruguay. Spain, I have nothing against but don't want to cheer for, don't know why. Germany have been world-beaters and simply impressive to me. I'm neutral on the Dutch, I haven't seen any of their games really.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

We had fireworks here in winnipeg and the rest of candadaland on Thursday. Hmm need more shots

So who is everyone cheering for out of the teams left in the world ciup. I'm going for Spain after Brazil's embarrassing performance yesterday.

I am still embittered after the Ghana spectactle. First actually exciting game of soccer I watch since I was like eight and it's ruined by an utterly against the spirit of the game (as I understand it), but still completely legal act of douchebaggery in the last seconds of the game.

@HD, my apologies, I shall stop using the offensive term. You guys need to come up with something shroter than American Football to aid drunken discussion of the merits of various oddly shaped balled sports on the drunken internet though.

I would like to see Spain or Germany take it, I just wish ghana could have been there. Time for more drinks!

what football are you talking about MTS? soccer or ammerican football?

Neither. The gloriousness that is Australian football will be on all afternoon. Three matches, two of them rippers. My home team is playing at home, so probably should go, but this is fun.

It's disappointing to me that very few people on here actually know about it/like it. TT used to watch it a while back, but it's hard to find streams on the internet apparently..

What are your thoughts on you now having a super 14 15 team to support?

We do? Don't really follow rugby, sorry.

Melbourne has a team from next year I think, maybe the year after. Really great sport to watch, specially since we seem to be churning out the incredible players at a rate of knots at the moment.

Yeah, that makes sense, we already have the Storm, I'm guessing it will be a Union team? Never really got into it to be honest, but at its best it is an exciting sport. More exciting than handegg most of the time too.

Yeah Union, most Saffers aren't aware that League even exists. The new team is the Melbourne Rebels in case your civic pride gets called into question at some point. Poor rugby can be really boring, I've experienced that once or twice. I think it's miles ahead of soccer or cricket though, which are really your only other options in these part. And there has been some fantastic rugby in the last two years or so, so I'm not complaining :p

Most Victorians aren't even aware Rugby has two codes. Ask it in New South Wales or Queensland though and you'll probably get torn limb from limb. :(

As for the similarity, I'm not sure. I don't watch that much rugby, but from what I do see it plays like a faster version of NFL with tries and the set plays and not throwing forward etc. Certainly the speed is closer to AFL, but I'm not familiar with the other two codes to make much of a judgment.

with teh ghana and uruguay game, they had the chance to win it with what suarez did, it sucks terribly that the person who took the free kick couldnt put the ball in the goal, but they had the chance to win ti easily, if your given that kind of opportunity, you cant blow it like that.

Oh that game was amazing, I was heartbroken when ghana didn't win. they deserved to win that game hands down. I honestly felt like crying when they lost, more so than I did when brazil went out. Uruguay should be fucking ashamed of themselves going through on that hand ball. Just absolute bs! That game was the best of the tournament imo.

Um excuse me Gyan didn't blow anything he was cheated! He never should have had to take that penalty kick because that first shot was a sure goal. Uruguay played one of the dirtiest games I've seen in a long time. I don't know how many times I saw pulling of the jersey or shorts in the box and just dirty under handed play all around. Uruguay was nowhere near the level of Ghana in that game and they don't deserve to be moving on, they didn't deserve that shoot out either. It's one of the lowest points in the game I've seen in a long time.

im just saying, they had a chance to move on with the penalty kick and didnt make it. I think its crap suarez is being called hero in there country, because of the play he made, the team was penalized for it, i wish Gyan's shot had gone in, i really do, they were the better team imo

Uruguay up until the Ghana game had been as clean and cheerable a team I could find. Despite their past records in U tournaments and such for not the cleanest play. Uruguay won, and they'll play in the semi-final. But, I think Ghana should have been there. Gyan blew the penalty and how cruel are penalty kicks?

A young Ghana sans Essien... what a bright, bright future for that team.
