ugh. I have GOT to start timing my header jumps better. Yesterday in a game; today @ practice- caught several balls flat in my face instead of my forehead.

Normally, I wouldn't care, but ever since my nose got bent (despite apparently not not having any fractures), it's a bit of a sensitive spot. And I"m somehow sure that repeated impact is not good for it.

fortunately, according to my mother, my sense of smell has been impaired as long as I live- which is why I get by not noticing half the smells that drive her nuts, so that's the least of my concerns.

However, I do need to see my FD about getting a referral to an ENT to check to make sure I won't develop breathing complications down the line in case there's been some sinus-related stuff displaced inside w/o a fracture.

I'm guessing that'll have to wait untill after I'm back form my vacation in Sept- I don't fancy having a re-broken nose healing while i'm off in Italy. Also, I can't really take any sick days in Aug since my boss is taking the whole month off and I'm required to be in the office every day as the only lawyer working.

No wonder this thread gets no action.

Stop bitching, start rippin!

I have no idea what that means.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

Yes, but it is so sad, eh? Our aging Malazan Members needing to be professional, work, have families, etc. Lol.

Yeah, it is (Everything except families part. Don't think I'm anywhere near that point yet).

The really sad thing is, as a general rule when I do get properly hammered, it's nowhere within a vicinity of my PC, which significantly cuts down on drunk posting.

A glass of Cabalié for me please bartender.

Been trying to persuade my wife to tidy up the stuff she gets out (and then leaves) for the best part of a week. Some of it has been there 2 months. I sue something then put it away. I'm told nagging doesn't work. Well not nagging clearly hasn't worked has it...

I'm going to have a bonfire of it shortly.

Here's a glass and a bottle to make up for my absence.

Nagging is usually counter productive in my experience. I presume you've spoken to her about it, as in a discussion. Those are usually better but sometimes it can take a few of them.
Basically I'd say ask her to start small. That she pick stuff up but not go nuts, then work towards an acceptable middle ground between her leaving things out and you're threshold for it.

I can use something chilled in this heat.

Ever since Portugal won, I've been on a losing streak. Not my fault per se, since footy is a team sport and all my teams have been performing poorly, but annoying nonetheless.

On the bright side, results I'm getting from my June of Doom ™ are mostly positive so far, meaning happy clients and firm getting paid. July and Aug are traditionally slow months, and I'm sliding back into the usual no-rush tempo of work, which is good.

So, really mixed July so far, but mostly good, since majority of life is work now, lol

Ah the joys of work. At least if it's going well it's a hell of a lot less stress.

I'm not sure there's a time I haven't finished "getting home" (arriving, doing a bit of tidying up, then supper) before 21h. My days are long.

Living up the the previous generation's idea of adulthood is something I've given up on. I've tried it and it's boring and and flat like a day old diet cola.

I say we all say to hell with it.

Also I'm looking into trying to do more DIY stuff, and hopefully this week I'll get a project going.
Those I'd like to really try are complicated as I only have a balcony, no yard and no land to do things on. On the whole I like not having a yard as maintenance alone would suck up the last of my time, but sometimes I wish I had some land to just build some crap and test it.

Hey DW could you throw a The Parent my way? The little one had a rough night and we have the in-laws visiting on top of it. I like my FIL, but some liquid patience is definitely a boon while he's around.

Also, I suspect I'll be spending some time on here for the foreseeable future.

What are you building, DW?

Can't sleep, because my PC is being loud, moving my OS onto an SSD. I hoped to do this while I was at soccer, but it ran into a booting error and I failed recogniz it as such before I left.

Now I'm stuck waiting another 40 min or so untill it does its thing so that I can go to sleep.

She just made it over the 3 weeks. Thankfully, she's usually pretty quiet so things have generally been going well on that front.

Today was also my last dose of the FIL for awhile. He's an interesting guy. A retired Loss Angeles lawyer with a huge penchant for talking politics.

All things considered... a cask might not be a terrible decision DW.

Edit: change call to cask.

Nothing fancy to start, using a pallet (like the urban hippy that I am) to make a vertical planter for my balcony. Minimal work, I just need to sand it down. Staple some geotextile to the back and then put sealant to the outside.

I'd like to build a gasifier stove and a rocket stove just to see how they work.

Good to hear you got through it unscathed, and here's your cask. Hopefully they weren't silly politics.

Ah, so still very young. Good to know she's cooperating on the sound front.

Pallet.. planter... I think I know what these words mean, but I can`t figure out how that`d work.

although it`s quite possible my brain is fried from 2 evenings of footy back-to back, with work tossed in there. These days the most I can do in the evening is come home and waste time on Spotify until I find myself falling asleep.

can't wait till Sat, some friends are planning a beach day-trip down to Lake Erie.

A pallet is basically this:

Take out every other transverse slat, cover everything but the top with geotextile, fill it with dirt, plant things.

I want something similar to this:

How's this:

"The Black Hole Coffee Abyss"

-3 parts dark dark coffee (made from beans that aren't much roasted, so that they contain a lot of caffeine)
-2 parts modified guarana juice that has electromagnetic properties that traps light like a black hole
-1 part phosphorous milk for the accretion disk.

So what warrants this amount of caffeine?
