Anyway, how are you doing DW? :Rodeo:

I've got a barrel of Student's Nectar here for you.

Things are going ok. Got two contracts lined up one after the other. The post-grad schooling is advancing slowly but surely.
You?

Thanks a lot. Good to hear things going good for you. :)
I'm just started my masters thesis a while ago. Not quite a year and I will be done.

I'm pretty sure the world will end when you stop studying Posted Image

Hahaha, I doubt that. It only seems so long for you because we got to know each other around the time I started. 5 Years is the minimum need for physics here and I will manage in 5 and a half years....

Harsh? Something like Bruichladdich then?
Personally i find peaty whisky to be tremendously harsh, and that's one of the peatier ones.

As for me, losing motivation at work, think i've been in the same place too long, but the job market isn't exactly brimming with openings at the moment...

ah well, hopefully it'll pass.

starting to pack for the cottage trip that's tomorrow. Also, starting to purchase alcohol for it.
given the way this week has been, I will be needing lots and lots of it.

I've already constructed a special deck for "Kings", and purchased a dozen balls for beer pong. 2 slabs of back bacon are being roasted as I'm typing this.

One more sub tomorrow that's already half-done, and then I don't need to think about life until some point on Monday.

I'm back, everyone! Happy 4th of July to the southern neighbours

Even though our long weekend was on Friday, I wisely decided to take today off anyways, so that I can recover from the trip, if need be.

Finally saw my Fd about x-rays of my face. no fracture. In answer to my follow-up question (asked by my parents) "then why does it look crooked?" I didn't really get a satisfactory answer.

Not that I particularly care- I got a game tonight that we'd be short-handed for otherwise, and a bunch of work-related stuff to stay on top of.

Good to hear that it's not broken, though the lack of explanation for the crookedness is not great.

I'm waiting to hear back today to know if I have to go waste a few hours at the clinic again tonight.

I'll send it back in time to precisely the moment you need it. Also the glass has a separate ice core so you get a cold drink but no watering down.

Oh, the joys of servers and networking!
One glass with the bottle of chilled Apothic White and a side of Sorbet.

Thanks Bliss. Been a while and I'm glad I'm back. How are things on your end?

Good to hear, things are okay on my end, other than a foot that is either very sick or has decided to use civil disobedience against me without telling me why.

Well If I have the plans to test for a false vacuum, but no equipment. That would be the best superweapon, force the universe to a lower energy state changing the laws of physics in an "explosion" going at lightspeed in all directions.

How exactly would you survive that? and how would you warn all the people you want to survive, without letting the annoying ones know?

I'll take lemon-flavoured mineral water. No alcohol for me right now, I still need to drop 2 extra kilos I picked up last weekend. shouldn't be too hard with this scorching heat, but it's also sapping my motivation to be active.

doesn't help when my pool closes lane swim due to "heat alert"

Mutually Assured Destruction doctrine mostly. As a strategy it may or may not have worked during the Cold War. That still amazes me to be honest that for nearly half a century the world was on the brink of annihilation and we've kinda just swept it to the back of our collective experience.
That's not to say there aren't present problems that need our immediate attention, but the idea of the cold war becoming but a page in a global history book in about 200 years (a good probability) is rather amazing.

Got back into swimming myself as I can't really do any endurance that requires impact on my feet. Kind of odd the pool would close for heat, you'd think it would stay open precisely for that reason.
Swimming always reminds me of all my ligaments that I really have.

It's an outdoor pool. So they close "lane swim" (come in and do laps for an hour), while extending the "fun swim" (have children play around and be boisterous throughout the pool). The concern is that doing laps @ a quick pace in extreme heat may increase chances of heatstroke, fainting, heart attacks, etc.

stupid, but them's the rules.

waiting on one laundry load to finsh up so I can do another and then go biking for a few hours while running errands. A friend is having a housewarming party tonight, gotta pick up a HomeSense gift card before I go. Also gotta look for a new badminton/volleyball net set for a different friend whose birthday was last week.

surprisingly tame night. good European-style get together (meaning LOTS of food), and tame drinking (maybe 6-7 beers- either Heineken or Stella, and 3 vodka shots). Watched TFC win, did some karaoke (apparently I do gangsta rep well. There`s now video proof), and then watched UFC.

expecting very mild hangover tomorrow.

Pretty tame compared to my sat night.

Steak on the grill, 2 beers, and Finding Nemo on the couch with the girls.

A glass of Cabalié for me please bartender.

Been trying to persuade my wife to tidy up the stuff she gets out (and then leaves) for the best part of a week. Some of it has been there 2 months. I sue something then put it away. I'm told nagging doesn't work. Well not nagging clearly hasn't worked has it...

I'm going to have a bonfire of it shortly.

I can use something chilled in this heat.

Ever since Portugal won, I've been on a losing streak. Not my fault per se, since footy is a team sport and all my teams have been performing poorly, but annoying nonetheless.

On the bright side, results I'm getting from my June of Doom ™ are mostly positive so far, meaning happy clients and firm getting paid. July and Aug are traditionally slow months, and I'm sliding back into the usual no-rush tempo of work, which is good.

So, really mixed July so far, but mostly good, since majority of life is work now, lol

I'll say anything to get it going again.

Miss the regulars back in the day; just needs new regulars. IMO.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....
