Wow, well Spain has been a complete disappointment this morning. What a waste of time. Talk about wasted opportunities, my god. I am so pissed! Excellent defense by the Swiss though.

Well it's going to be tough now though with Chile pulling out the win this morning. Especially with Russia and Uruguay playing later on today. They need to hope for a draw in that game and hope that the later games in this group end up being draws, Chile and Switzerland have to lose and obviously Spain would need to win. Not an easy task at all, they've really blown it big time here. Especially for a team widely believe by many people to be the favourite to win it all.

i cant believe they have spain as the favorite to win with their performance today. Coming in to watching that game i was hoping to see a good team play but they did not show up at all and played pretty sloppy to me, hopefuly the later game is better, and the play is competitive. the spain game was really lopsided to me in the amount of time spain had the ball and yet they couldnt do anythign with it.

Kings rules are pretty flexible, you generally have to decide on the rules beforehand if you're not playing with your usual friends, since everyone ends up knowing different rules. For example I usually play something along the lines of

A - Drink a single
2 - Drink a double
3 - Nominate a single
4 - Nominate a double
5 - Is for guys
6 - Is for chicks
7 - Play sevens
8 - Rhyme
9 - Break a rule
10 - Make a rule
J - Thumbs
Q - Bathroom pass
K - First three kings put a shot in the king's glass, last king has to down the glass and ends the game

Obviously a lot of those wont work, but as long as the make/rules, drink and nominate rules are in, we can decide on what to do with the others.

I've looked around for online card thing, but I cant find anything that allows multiple people to track a single deck. If kings is the way everyone wants to go I could probably code something (really terrible looking) that works along those lines.

@TB - dont think we need to worry much about keeping track of score - I rate we just take a shot for every x black sheep, depending on how many words we choose, winner nominates next words.

Oh that's definitely a much better plan as far as sheep is concerned Alt, good thinking on your part. That should also simplify everything and speed it up.


I would really appreciate it if you could rig something up for Kings, I don't care what it looks like, as long as it works.

It'll be on a Friday or Saturday a few weeks from now. North American's will probably have to start drinking in the early afternoon I believe, in order to accommodate STD and Pathos, as well as some other. So more likely on a Saturday. I'll PM everyone with the date as soon as I have it nailed down. Possibly the first weekend in July is looking good as that's a long weekend here in Canadaland, but if something else is more suitable for people they can certainly let me know.

this isnt a bad game between South Africa and Uruguay, both sides are being agressive and have had opportunities. The goal had a little luck into it being deflected and slowing it down to take the dip at the end and go in but thats what happens in games, team get lucky!

Lets hope no one does anythign to make it awkward, its the last thing any of us who are gonna be there want. TB is doin it to have a good time and hopefully everyone else does as well. hopefully i wont have to close the saturday its on, i am gonna try to have it off!

Sadly I have too many patients today to be able to watch the game. I try to see snatches of it in between patients, but I'm basically running from treatment room to treatment room. I'll have to watch the replay of the game tonight.

@FW Okay fairly noted, it's not the first time someone has drunkenly (or soberly for that matter) declared their undying love for me. I'll just put it down to the booze. Really judging by our previous drinking get togethers there are far more embarrassing things that can be said. Just ask Maccy and his member that reaches all the way around the world, then there was STD and his herpes, Bent having sex with his wife, not to mention D'rek telling us what big hands were good for. Yep, definitely some winners lol.

we really only need something that eliminates cards drawn from a deck..then we just sort the order that we take cards out before we start..we can have an official card drawer...? i think i migh have a wedding then but will be able to tell you tomorrow as i'm in edinburgh and able to speak to my sister then... i think if we can combine the two sets given we should be fine...



also i wanna say that mario galaxy 2 is freaking sweet.

So I've talked to Maccy and he's in as long as RL doesn't get in the way of the date. I'm also consulting him on some pub games to see if there's anything we can add to our list. So far I've got Ring of Fire, don't ask me what that is because I have no idea, apparently it's something akin to Kings. I'll get more details later.

I've always found the most enjoyable drinking games to be ones on film nights, where you watch say Jurassic Park and drink every time a dinosaur pops up.

Well I guess that's the nail in the coffin of SA's world cup run, I highly doubt we'll fare better against France.

I hope 'some other' includes myself Can we please decide on a date well beforehand? Tri-Nations is coming up, plus I'm away the first weekend of August (Pathos too if we twist his arm into coming with).

Random.org has a card shuffling thing, so the other option would be to have an official card designator (preferably someone not drinking) who draws 52 cards there. Then we decide what order we are playing in and the designator tells the people what card they get as we play. For additional transparency the cards can be screencapped and posted here afterwards. It would certainly save me a bit of work.
