Ok. So we know that Coltaine is going to be reborn, but what will his destiny be? Or will it even be explained in the future of the series? I really hope it will be, and heres some speculation.

What if Coltaine grows up to oust Rallick Mael? I mean, the bastard betrayed him and Pormquals 10,000. It would almost make sense for reborn Coltaine to smite this fool....

Probably won't happen... but it would be kind of cool.

Given which series it is we're talking about, I think it far more likely Coltaine to be denied, or even purposely avoid, his revenge on Mallick. Even as one of the most aggrieved parties in the series, I can honestly see Coltaine either waving it off, or getting beaten to the chase by some random thug, or a god, or someone far more bitter and vindictive than he would be. Either that or he takes revenge and it destroys him, or at least drastically changes his personality.

But I also very much doubt it will be dealt with any time in the next year or two, and if it is, I'm pretty sure it will be handled by ICE.

The Book of the Fallen ends soon though. Maybe the future holds a Malazan Book of Big Grins and Chuckles.

RotCG =/= part of the Book of the Fallen. And it still didn't have a 'happy' ending. :o

I just really hope we see a return of Coltaine. And I could see Mael intervening, for obvious reasons, but that doesn't seem too likely.

I don't think Mael would intervene... Most gods don't give a crap about thier priests.
