I mentioned a while back that I was looking into having a dabble at producing a blue forum skin - yeah it was a while ago.
I've been messing around with it and have come to the conclusion that there are far too many blues out there! Damn them.
So I'm asking for a little help here -maybe someone with a bit more knowledge of putting colours together successfully can come up with a range of blues that don't clash and are the kind of blue you contrary lot would like to see.

Now here's a little task for you all - maybe make a poll or whatever, but here's a list of websmart colours. The background will probably be as indicated in the image (expertly) attached. Also what colour text, highlights and stuff like that would you want to see? Please bear in mind that these colours come up a lot brighter when you see them on the screen!

Just so you can see what I mess I am getting into at the moment with these colours - see the other image below for a giggle :o

I don't care what the final result ends up looking like (I only ever use the default IPB skin) but the name of this blue skin absolutely has to be "Napan".
"Here is light. You will say that it is not a living entity, but you miss the point that it is more, not less. Without occupying space, it fills the universe. It nourishes everything, yet itself feeds upon destruction. We claim to control it, but does it not perhaps cultivate us as a source of food? May it not be that all wood grows so that it can be set ablaze, and that men and women are born to kindle fires?"

How do you go about making an IPB skin? I'd love to take a stab at it.

Is there an example .css file we can use to play around? I'm sure I saw a firefox plugin to let you load your own shemes onto a page, but we'll need an example to work of off.

Actually - that is pretty cool.

Is there a css you ask? Hmm, probably the easiest way to get a css is to create your own free invision forum and as admin of your board you can mess around with the css as much as you like.

Looking at the page source for this page, there's a couple of hundred lines of inline css, so I'm guessing the skin builds the look of the forum into the page source, rather than just covering it with an external css file :o I assume you guys have some sort of app to help build skins in the back end, since coding all that by hand must would forever.

From Bubba's thingy I think

might work, although choosing which colour goes where and fiddling with icons and stuff makes a big difference.

I use this site for a reference on how to edit the style.css

to edit the skin and some of the buttons such as reply etc is basically one file, but I didn't get round to fiddling with all icons etc as I'd have to find a nice icon set and upload it, likewise with pretty bits like gradient bars, rounding corners.

If anyone has any pretty bits that would look cool or an idea for division bars, buttons, icons, please let me know.

@alt146 - the dark scheme is the closest in colour to the old blue skin (although there was no purple in it) so I'll try some of those colours out over the weekend and see what we end up with  Thanks for your help! :bs:

Could you please get icons that make it easier to see if you've replied to a topic or not? I know there's a little paperclip on the malazanempire skin to show you've replied, but it doesnt really jump out at you.
