Doom 4 is on sale on PSN. I've heard a lot of great things about the campaign so I figured I'd go for it. I played for maybe 20 minutes before I had to go to bed, but it was 20 amazing minutes.
I wake up on an ancient stone altar in the middle of a high tech lab. There are lit candles all around me and a demon standing over me, whom I promtly grab by the eye socket and hammer into the altar. In the next room I find my old armour inside a sarcophagus of some sort, also surrounded by burning candles and what looks like small offerings. Flowers, that sort of thing. Someone tries to talk to me on an intercom, but I'll have none of that so I rip it out of the wall and throw it across the room. I have an armour to put on and demons to kill. It only gets better from there.
It's hard to say how long they can keep this up, but I am enjoying it so far!

Did you reach the outside yet? That's sort of the crescendo of the opening and the switch between prologue and the actual game. It's probably the best moment of 2016.
It just keeps going from there. Just fast and brutal gunplay. If I can give you some advice it would be to keep an eye on the level and weapon challenges, as there's some great upgrades that you can unlock relatively quickly.

Yeah, that's where I stopped. With the loading of the shotgun right on the final note. It was amazing.
Ah, and I'll keep an eye out. Thanks

That's the one, didn't want to spoil it for you but that late title card and that sound, UNNGGH.

I loved how the Doom guy punches the intercom in the elevator when whomever tries to talk to him again. No time for chatter. There are demons to kill.

Yes, definitely a refreshing take on a first person shooter protagonist. It also plays into the way the game plays. You're not fighting monsters. You are the monster and you do terrible, terrible things to those poor, poor demons.

Horizon is looking phenomenal. I hope the story can live up to this trailer:

Isn't the general consensus here Xbox One is the best console for exclusive titles? I wonder if Horizon Zero Dawn will tip opinion towards PS4? (if it ends up being a great title).

I'm that one guy who was severely disappointed by DHYUM.
HZD on the other hand looks fucking great. Giant robot dinosaurs? O ho ho yes.
As to exclusives, it depends on what genres you like. If you play fighters, don't bother with an X1. PS4 has almost all the fighters of this generation.

What the hell is DHYUM?
I'd argue that X-box has the best mainstream exclusive line-up but as Maark says, it's probably very dependent upon what genres you like. The PS4 is basically the Japanese machine if you're into all that manga/anime garbage
Personally I resent Sony for resting on their laurels. There's very few great PS4 titles and when ever they announce something it seems it's always 3 years away from release, which just gives me blue balls. I was sure I was going to buy a PS4 on release and three years later I still don't feel the need. Uncharted 4 looks mighty good but I'd want to see Horizon, God of War, Spiderman and Last of Us 2 added to the library before I'd want to pull the trigger.

Bloodborne alone is worth it. There are no exclusive xbox titles that come even close.

Well, some of us aren't that fond of Souls games. But I also think that it's not about the one exclusive but the critical mass of great or crucial games.
Again, I guess it depends upon taste, The Masterchief Collection would have been worth it if they hadn't fucked it up so bad before release. For Halo fans Halo 5 would have been great. For Gears fans you just got Gears 4.
You also have Dead Rising 3 and 4, Sunset Overdrive, Ryse, Quantum Break, Rare Replay, Titanfall, the various Forza Titles, Killer Instinct, Ori and the Blind Forest.
(Un)fortunately many of these titles can just be bought on PC so for me it doesn't really matter.

DHYUM is just slang for Doom 4. In terms of exclusives, it's fair to say a lot more Japanese stuff is available on PS4, but that's primarily because the Xbox doesn't sell well there. There's enough cross platform stuff that really it doesn't make much difference if you just want to play Call of Field or Battleduty, though. For me, the next games coming up that I'm interested in are HZD and Mass Effect Andromeda.

Has anyone played No Man's Sky since the big update?
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

Nope, I'll wait another 6 months or so and see what the release. I'm not much for replaying games, so if and when I return to No Man's Sky, it will probably be the last time. I'd rather I get the full experience than just see a few of the improvements.

With M$oft announcing that Scalebound is cancelled, Horizon is the only 3rd person "kill big monsters" game around. Well, that and the new God of War.
Basically, if you're not into shooters, it feels like Sony does have better exclusives.
Especially since M$oft is pushing win 10/Xbox cross-play, meaning most of its games aren't really "exclusives" anymore.

I learnt about Star Citizen today. Oh my. That looks like everything No Man's Sky tried and failed to be...
