I am still sad that the Battlefront franchise is dead. I don't understand it. A new Star Wars Battlefront game would be a locked in great seller.

I think Dark Forces was the first computer game I ever legitimately owned. We had other programs for the Apple IIC, but they were ooooold schooooool. Dark Forces was bad ass.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

Meh. I recently got Battlefront 2 and I'm totally unimpressed by that game. Was something of a serious letdown, sadly.

Probably a stupid question, but I've only budgeted myself for one game this month, and I'm tossing up between Dead Island or Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Which one should I get? Keep in mind Deus Ex is $20 more expensive, but will probably run better on my comp.
(Prediction: unanimous for Deus Ex.)
EDIT - just found the Star Wars collection for $49.99 as well. ARGH CANNOT DECIDE

Gears of Wars 3 hits shelves tomorrow (Tuesday, September 20th). I've never played any of the Gears titles, but all the hype for Gears of War 3 made me nostalgic for the commercial released with the original title.

Deus Ex got better reviews, but I haven't played Dead Island.
Deus Ex was awesome from the bit I've played, and Yahtzee's two main problems were it's much shorter than the original, and unlike the original, doesn't make you make any hard choices between play style (you can get any combination of implants as oppose to having to pick between them). *feels like I understated that it really is awesome so far*
The consensus for DI was that it is a blast to play, but is a bit dodgy with crappy voice acting. And unlike what the awesome teaser implied expect nothing in the story/character developement side of things. It's recommended as being at it's best when playing co-op, as one review put it "the most fun to be had in the game is the situations the players get themselves into rather than the the ones the game places you in". The example they had was going on a basic fetch quest with one person driving, the others keeping all the zombies away, the driver gets stuck and everyone else jumps out to try to frantically defend while the driver tries to get the car out.
So depends what you want

I am pleased, I pre-ordered Skyrim
For absurdly cheap by Aussie standards. And with a free cloth map to boot Not that I'd have gotten it any cheaper anywhere without.
From what I've heard:
Dead Island = (Left 4 Dead + Borderlands) - (Story + Good Voice Acting)
Also, very melee focused.
I realise you were probably looking for a vote from someone who's played it, but I was posting anyway
For absurdly cheap by Aussie standards. And with a free cloth map to boot Not that I'd have gotten it any cheaper anywhere without.
From what I've heard:

I think I'm just going to get Skyrim on Steam, screw the peripheral stuff. I got Witcher 2 collector's edition but I never even look at the special stuff. Well, except the cards and dice

I'm not actually sure, just what I've read.
Actually to be fair to Valve, L4D and L4D2 actually have quite a lot of story and such (compared to what it seems like). They just don't ram it down your throat. A lot of it is extra comics and little bits here and there. Plus lots of people don't realise the campaigns were supposed to be a linear story. Portal games are a little like that, with the extra little bits about Chell and how aperture fits into the Half Life world.
Gothos - I got it the way I did entirely because it was the cheapest place to get it. Less than half the price it is on steam, and steam is about $10 less than it is in store.

Damnit, I was expecting to have a at least half a month to finish it (should be plenty of time) before Skyrim comes out. I it comes out after Skyrim it will definitely go on the backburner...

apparently, there's no way to pause the game in single player--after a period of inactivity, the game logs you out!

I have decided that I will buy this game in Ukraine this summer when I'm there for the EUros. that way i'm assured to only get the single player.
