I feel like the reporter who wrote that article isn't taking the matter seriously.

Game Director of Biomutant talking nearly non-stop for 25 minutes about what the game is.
This is either gonna be an absolutely brilliant game, or a cult classic Eurojank title. The way they talk about that jumble of game systems makes me think of E.Y.E.: Divine Cybermancy. But this game actually has a budget and a publisher.

I know Fornite has reimagined live event possibilities in video games and is toeing the bleeding edge of what can be done in that space, but they are doing a "Christopher Nolan movie night" now. Is that permissible?

Finished The Last of Us 2. Hoo boy, there is a lot to unpack. I need to decompress and sign up for a few therapy sessions to repair my broken psyche. DO NOT let any young ones play this game. There's no fence sitting about TLoU2, there is going to be strong reactions from folks who love it and folks who hate it. That's a good thing, and you should definitely play it to decide for yourself. I will say I think the scores were too high. The gameplay mechanics didn't change much from the first game (7 years old) and can be frustrating at times. The environments on the other hand are perhaps the best designed I've ever experienced in a video game. So much care and thought put into every place you visit, and they are G-E-O-R-G-E-O-U-S. But the story is where the clamor is directed. At the end the day, I guess my first thought is the game is probably attempting to say something about profound, generational trauma and the effects of violence on one's humanity and how it affects not only you, but everyone around you.... also, don't do steroids kids, it leads to roid-rage, which isn't conducive to turning the other cheek and letting things go. Steroids also cause gynecomastia, a real thing, look it up. Someone else play the game please and lets get to discusting...errr discussing *wink-wink-nudge-nudge

I'm somewhere around 2/3s through TLOU 2. Probably won't finish the game before the weekend. It's sooo long.
I'm leaning towards a dislike for the story but it's definitely an amazing achievement in terms of visuals and environment design.
Also I'm pretty sure Abby is transexual. Not on steroids.

When you say you're leaning towards a dislike of the story is that in the same way that you had quite a negative reaction to the end of the first one or is it more of a "just not that we'll written" type thing?
No spoilers pls

It's a superbly written game. No worries there, Tiste. But in terms of plot and narrative design I have some big issues with the game so far. I don't like what they're doing or the story they're telling. I'll write it up in a spoiler post eventually.

Devolver Digital direct announced for July 11th!
I'm so excited for this. I think CEO/Presenter lady died last time. I have no idea how they'll continue this year.

I'm excited for GOT but cautiously waiting for the reviews to come in. The infamous games were good but often repetitive.

Space Sim Avorion - voxel building ship galaxy thing, really very fun. It's amazing and 20$ on Steam right now and I can't recommend it enough. It is both 3rd person ship controlling, and evolves into that with a 4x space sim with economy and diplomacy and building your own stations and mines and stuff.
I haven't even gotten to the last 2 'materials', and I'm having a great time already.
Just don't expect a story, its a sandbox.

She was rebuilt as a robo-Nina and then rescued from a burning lab by freedom fighter who said "Come with me if you want to live".
Horizon: Zero Dawn PC out on Aug 7th. 60 CAD though, so feels like a "wait for reviews" title.
Hellpoint on GOG on July 28th. After playing the demo, pretty stoked for it.

There is a weapon in The Last of Us 2 that is the most jaw droppingly, fun to use weapon I think I have experienced in a game. That's gotta sell some of you on the game and get you to play it, yeah? *wink-wink-nudge-nudge Come on sag-asses, play the game so we can get some substantive discussions going.

Also, Halo 3 out on PC as part of the MCC on the 14th.
I held off playing Halo 2 because I heard it ended on a clifffhanger; But now I guess it's time to jump in again.

Part of the reason for my excitement for the Xbox Series X is that there's a big backlog of Microsoft games from this generation I haven't played yet. I want to play Halo 4 & 5 but I think I might go all the way back to 1 with the Master Chief Collection.

That's going to be one of the main driving factors for me when considering an next gen Xbox purchase. I'm hoping, like Playstation has been doing currently, they will make a lot of the exclusive games from the last generation free or at dirt cheap prices. I'm looking at you Ori series, Cuphead and Sea of Thieves.

They're already "free" if you subscribe to gamepass. That's the other cool thing about MS. Every first party title is "free" day one if you're a subscriber.

Anybody used amiibo cards with the switch?
I've found the Wolf Link card with 20 hearts as my boy would really like it, but I'm not sure how reliable this stuff is.
The actual amiibo is stupidly overpriced and you only get 3 hearts with it; the cards seem cheap and you get more hearts, although no figure.
I think they work in other games too?

So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.
