Finally got around to watching the death stranding trailer.

Not sure about it. It looks cool and weird and atmospheric and all that. But so did The Phantom Pain's trailers. The question is if it's a cohesive story.

I think the traversal stuff and unarmed combat looks very awkward. Wonder how much of it there is.

One thing I will give Kojima, his games deserves to be viewed as art.

Porter Bridges lol. Kojima being his usual subtle self. I admire the number of ideas experimented with in his games, but the execution has always left something to be desired. Still, I'd rather they existed than didn't.

Something something Death Stranding's a timed exclusive something... or at least such is the buzz somewhere on teh interwebz...

In other news, Phil Spencer loves Steam. Age of Empires Definitive Editions 1-3, Gears Tactics and GEARS 5 (!!!) will be coming to steam.

To entice people to use WinStore instead, however, Microsoft is brining GamePass to PC properly. More info to come @ E3 (Competition. Everyone but EGS can do it right).

Personally, I'm hoping they also bring the Marcus Fenix collection to Steam to follow the MCC. Then I'll actually care about the GoW franchise.

I read about it while thinking the entire time that it was The Outer Worlds, the upcoming Obsidian game. I’d be surprised if I was the only one.

Looks like an Elder Scrolls-type game with a Dark Souls aesthetic. And it has a release date - Sept 9th. Might be worth looking into.

Also, September's gonna be a busy month for Focus Home Interactive: GreedFall, the new Spiders RPG is also dropping that month.

Spiders is a "Bioware"-lite dev in my books, making those janky RPGs brimming with ideas but usually stifled by small budget and team size.

GreedFall is a pseudo-colonial RPG with muskets and native magic. It's one of my most anticipated RPGs of the last few years, so I'm stoked to hopefully see more than just the new story trailer during E3

I just pre-ordered the founders pack.

Then I realized I am a silly person.

I rationalized that with the value of Destiny Year 3 + Season Pass, it's really cheap since I was going to by those anyway.

But Stadia launches in November. Destiny will probably launch in September.

Sigh.

Not Destiny 3, but looks like a big DLC called Shadow Keep. Back to 'Dark Below' territory? (From D1?). If it is received well, I may have to break out of vanilla D2 mode.

Baldur's Gate 3 looks cool.

Gylt (the new Tequila Works game) is currently the only announced Stadia exclusive.

PC Gamer crunched some math. If you play @ 4k 60 and have 1TB of data to burn, you can play continuously for 65 hours.

Now, our household monthly cap is 250 (I think?), and my dad generally lives with headphones on whenever he's home, streaming podcasts or radio, or watching Russian soap operas on YouTube.

So yeah, Stadia is a no go for me at this point. It's an interesting proposition, and I can see the merits, but its current "free" library is limited to Destiny 2- any big AAA game you are still expected to "buy" first. It's not really a hugely superior value proposition if you've gotta build a Stadia library from scratch. Not sure how many adopters they'd get in the "core gamer" market.

That mindflayer invasion seems pretty apocalyptic. I don't know anything about mindflayers or DND lore but flying octupus people who can magically turn people into more mindflayers, seems like an unstoppable scenario.
