Far cry 4 is one of my favorite shooters ever. I've played through it 3-4 times. It's really good.

Can't say I recall any of the DLC being strictly necessary from a story perspective. Just some new throw away gameplay and design ideas

100% seconded. Far Cry 4 is excellent and honestly I ended up preferring the villain and story to Vaas from 3 (despite Vaas being an amazing performance and character).
Much better than 5, sadly.

Would you say that 5 is a... Far Cry from its predecessor?? 😎

The Resident Evil 2 remake is sitting at a 92 Open Critic rating.

If I wasn't so squeemish about horror I'd be all over this. RE2 on the PS1 was a jaw dropping game.

Rome Total War on Iphone is serviceable and enjoyable.

But I'm still mostly stuck with Warhammer Total War 2, what little time I have for gaming these days. The Mortal Empires DLC that combines both I and II is really fun. I've been running a Dark Elf game with Crone Hellebron on Legendary, and it's very hard but very fun. The Dark Elves have poor range on their archers, but armour piercing arrows, and their anti infantry is amazing. I struggle with order and income up in the north, but I've slowly been spreading south to gain cash and slaves, and on the way, Hellebron have become manticore riding monster. I start every battle launching her straight at the enemy lord. She drinks a potion of Khain or whatever, and butchers the lord in seconds, and there's nothing the opponent can do about it.

It is... wow. I remember wanting a PC just so I could play this.
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

I certainly think so. The touch screen in combat takes a little getting used to, but for a mobile game it's great.

I bought Resi 1 in one of the sales in autumn, so I'll probably give the series a try sometime this year. What I've been hearing of the remake is good, so afterwards I'll be looking to grab it once it's available for something sensible like 50 CAD or so.

I never actually played Resi 2 back in the day. I'm kind of interested in the remake - but a little put off by the fact it's a run and gun (in my mind, Resi is tank controls and fixed cameras). I'm watching this one with cautious optimism, though.

From the footage I've seen it's not run and gun. Ammo is still sparse and the zombies still soak up bullets. It's more of a dodge and evade thing.

Apparently the Tyrant is also in the game. I don't remember him being in RE2 but then again it's been over 20 years since I played it.

Well, when I say run and gun, I mean in the sense that it's an over the shoulder like RE4. Gimme tonk controls.

The Tyrant is Mr X, he was definitely in the original 2 (big Morpheus looking dude in a trenchcoat).

Nintendo have scrapped development to date on Metroid Prime 4 and re-started, this time in collaboration with Retro Studios:

Shame, but sound like it's for the best.

Their message is refreshingly honest and transparent. I wish all corporate communication was like this.

Just in case Metro doesn't give you enough eastern bloc weirdness:

This looks pretty damn good. Blocking QTEs I'm not crazy about, and I'll definitely turn off the motion blur, just like every other game I play, but, daymn, that looks like a fun place to explore.
