Not cold enough. Loved the game but I hated the ending.

Spoiler

Still I can't wait to play the sequel.

I thought the ending was perfect. I don't think I've ever thought about the ending of a game quite so much (apart from Witcher 3 maybe). I don't think it needed a sequel. I'll still play it, though B)

Gamescom 2017 is this week. Mostly old announcements from E3 and disappointing unveals.

But there are some interesting stuff popping up:

Microsoft announced Age of Empires 4!

....

To be made by Relic. I really don't know how I feel about squad-based AoE, to be honest.

And in yet another attempt to convert people to the WinStore, they also announced Definitive Editions for AoE 2 and 3.

For AoE 2, this will be a second remake (after the steam-based HD edition).

I'm happy for the Forgotten Empires (the AoK mod team that got so big M$oft published their mod as an expansion and then put them in charge of content creation for HD, and later put them to work on AoE DE.

But I'm worried about Microsoft trying to pull a valve with Half-Life and Steam on AoE and WinStore at this junction. Unless WinStore actually becomes good, and offers solid mod support, they stand a very good chance of killing most of the goodwill HD managed to build up (at least they won't kill the community, because the pro scene is still playing the original release fixed up by community patches that socks better than HD).

But yeah, bold move by M$oft.

And I want to state that Ment has out-weaseled me by far in this game.

Personally the two most interesting announcements so far is the definitive version of Re-Core and a PC version of Final Fantasy 15.

It sounds like they had time to add the missing content to Re-Core and they're not even charging full price for the new version. It'll probably still be mediocre but I think it looks interesting,

And of course FF15 got a pretty positive reception last year. It sounds like FF15 will also be some kind of definitive thing with all the DLC and updated story content included.

Both of those look interesting. Hopefully the first one has coop and is cool.

I feel like the Jurassic World park-builder is more or less going to be a bit to simplistic to have much replayability, but will wait and see. Still, it's basically what they made the script out of, so happy to mess around with a dinosaur park. B)

Oh boy. Let the nerd opinions and fighting and "I know more then you" bickering commence.

I think I'll echo the sentiment I saw in the Reddit thread yesterday. The idea of Bethesda taking on a heavily character dependent, complicated and well written book universe is not very appealing. Skyrim and Fallout 4 have moved towards more streamlined, poorly written stories and characters. I just don't see this working very well unless they change their formula considerably.

On the other hand, a pre-Doom of Valyria game would be fun. It would allow for more magic, it would allow for some Skyrim dragon nonsense and the less established historic age could be plied to make an engaging Open world game.

Well, a lot of it could write itself. For example, I can see a scenario where our adventurer comes across a familiar looking ghost. The ghost then utters this phrase: "I used to be a Lannister like you, then I took an arrow in the dick". Posted Image

Any of you PC master race guys playing PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG)? From what I've seen of it, it looks like a hell of a lot of fun. If you've played it, what are your impressions of it? And can you explain to me what a "chicken dinner" is?

Getting the chicken dinner just means getting first place. As in the English phrase: "Winner, winner, chicken dinner".

I bought it an played a couple hours but it's not really my thing. I think it's a game that is better spectated than actually played. Currently it feels pretty rough. And like 90% of the game is looting stuff and trying to find somebody to get into a fire fight with.

Personally it just isn't for me. All these survival games are interesting but I've yet to see one with enough polish for me to take a liking to them.

Yeah, I can see where watching an edited YouTube video could paint the game in a way such that it makes it seem more action packed and fun then it actually is. The vids I watched has some really cool game play and some had really funny encounters.

But yeah, I can see were a lot of your time is just spent roaming around looking for a fight, and hoping you are geared up better then those you encounter.

I will say, in some of the vids I saw, one of the popular strategies seems to be to just lie down behind a tree (or some other object) and wait until someone happens by and ambush them. Thing is, the vid montage shows the YouTubber just walking up behind those who employ this strategy and executing them, no problem.

On the radio earlier it was reported this is a hoax. Although they did say Bethesda was working on two "highly top secret" projects. So, take that for what it's worth.

Definitely want Shadow of War and will no doubt end up with Assassin's Creed too, seen as I've played almost all of them thus far...

New Red Dead looks awesome. Just can't wait, more of the same would be fine by me.

Also SW Battlefront 2... I'm in two minds again. The game looks soo good - Clone Troopers, space battles from Clone Wars, plus a single player campaign. But the first one looks sweet; and has zero gameplay or depth, it's just a dull mutliplayer shooter.
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

I like that RDR2 is a prequel. If it would be set after RDR1 then I suppose that would mean Jack Marston would be the primary protagonist. I never really connected with Jack Marston enough as the story in RDR came to a conclusion. So I'm really liking that they decided to make it a prequel. Also, I'm not sure what years RDR2 will take place but I'm assuming it could be right around or just after the Civil War (not 100 % sure though). The setting of the American west during those years should be very fertile ground for everything Rockster throws into open world titles. I can see a more prominent role for American Indians, definitely.
