Okami was such a great game. I played it on a borrowed PS2, I think, and had a hell of a time. It probably would have been even better on a Wii or computer.
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

Been reading a lot about the Devil May Cry reboot, DmC, and as far as I can tell its gameplay is passable - less involved than the originals but still entertaining, though the weapons need to be rebalanced as the axe is stupidly overpowered, oh, and the enemies need new AI - the environments and visuals are pretty sweet, and the story is a writhing mass of organs, excrement and viscera, foul liquids spewing forth from torn valves and dripping malformed corpuscles out of every pore. Definitely a rental/sales thing, though I'll probably wait until it's like 75% off if I ever get the game. Shame, I got a PS2 originally for the first game and even bought DMC2, which was horrible, but 3 and to a lesser extent 4 were pretty damn awesome.
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

Bought a few games for the Wii because why the fuck not.

Skyward Sword has been pretty fun so far. This is probably the first game where I've genuinely enjoyed using the Wii-mote. Some aspects have taken a little getting used to, but now that I've got the controls down things are super fluid. Still, not a big fan off the Wii-mote overall. It's a fucking pain in the ass in Super Mario Galaxy 2 on levels when you need to balance on something, as the tilt sensor is generally absolute shit.

Super Smash Bros Brawl is on the way as well. I haven't really played a Smash Bros game since the original (which consumed my childhood days), so I'm really looking forward to it. I don't expect to get more than a few hours of gameplay a week out of it, but it should be a good game for when I'm in-between games.

Considering buying Monster Hunter Tri. Reviews of it were good, and from what I've heard it's pretty difficult. Killing giant monsters with a variety of cool weapons and armor in a good-looking fantasy world? Sounds like a party.
uhm, that should be 'stuff.' My stiff is never nihilistic.

Just finished Mafia II. Short review: The city was cool, the story overall was okay, but the A to B missions and the linear story progression makes this a mediocre game. No real reason to play this when you have Grand Theft Auto.

EDIT: Oh, I forgot! There are old Playboy posters as collectibles in Mafia II. That's definitely a point in its favour.

Those who have been waiting for news on the fate of Prey 2, rejoice!

http://www.aliennoire.com/

Apparently, according to techsavy people, the source code for this countdown page links this to Prey 2 with an announcement set for March 1st.

Considering that the web page is named alien noire I am pretty interested in this. Seems they are sticking with the idea of being a human/alien bounty hunter.

Just lost 3 hours on Ni No Kuni.

And I still don't have the wand equivalent of the Master Sword yet.

All I'll say so far is, after recently playing a number of assassin-type games with lots of throat slitting and hiding bodies in containers amid various grimy city scapes, this game is an absolute tonic of colour and humour. If you've played this genre to death, then maybe you won't be impressed, but so far it seems to have all the best from the likes of Wind-Waker and Pokemon, with a beautiful Studio Ghibli finish.

And after nearly 3 hours I'm still getting tutorial hints and picking up the basic tools, books, pendants, stamp sheets, familiars, treats to feed 'em, and all that.

After reading the Wizard book, and getting my first familiar, I just had to name him Toot. (I mean, he's a little guy with a sword and shield that fights for a wizard).

It all just looks soooo good! My face is beaming.

So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

Hehe, the source code says "<!-- Tommy needs your help. -->" Tommy being the character you play in Prey :p
"So how'd you save the world?"
"Averted the rapture by drowning the baby Jesus in his own tears"

Going through a list of reviews for Aliens: Colonial Marines right now. Oh boy, I can't remember when a AAA game last got this bad a reception.

Oh and drama is building up around EMGs review that gave it a 9/10. That's going to be a funny shit storm to watch. Especially since it's the same guy who gave Halo 4 a 7.

Bungie is doing an ARG (Alternate Reality Game) this week probably related to Destiny:

Apparently a certain amount of people need to have the pictures open in a tab for the images to become clear. Or something.

Yeah but Duke was a special case. We all knew that Gearbox simply bought the carcass of the game, stuffed it full of formaldehyde and shinied up its coat. It was going to suck no matter what. Gearbox bought that game for cheap and earned a ton of cash from the investment leaving them room to make a new Duke, modern/proper old school game some day in the future.

Colonial Marines doesn't really have any excuses. It's just bad all the way through. Old engine, bad graphics, bad story, bad controls, bad gunplay. It's just bad.

Can't wait to buy it for 5 euro in half a year and play it.

Speaking of bad games, Aptorius, did you ever play that Asura's Wrath ridiculousness? I tried a demo of it the other day and it was pretty uneven and nonsensical to say the least.

Still waiting for it to drop down below 50% before I buy it.

As far as I have understood the combat is "okay" bordering on bad but it's not what you should be playing it for anyway. It's the absolutely insane scenarios and boss battles that you want to play it for.

Third Batman game confirmed in the Arkham series, set for a 2013 release.

http://www.gamechup....2013-by-warner/

It's a bit curious that they haven't released any material or teasers on it yet though. Either they are looking at a very late release around November/December or they are pooling their advertisement money for a big push during Autumn probably culminating at the E3 conference.

Come to think of it, what with the 99% certainty that we are going to have two new consoles around Christmas, this must be what they are shooting for. A batman game ready for the opening line up.

What's that? An Arkham game designed with a Next gen processing power in mind? Yes please.

System Shock 2 is coming to GOG!!!!

http://www.rockpaper...2-comes-to-gog/

Finally free out of the legal limbo, the game that basically spawned the non-fantasy FPS/RPG hybrids (think Deus Ex, Bioshock, S.T.A.L.K.E.R), etc is coming back to the masses in through digital distribution, all tooled up to handle current PC tech.
m
I got played this a few years ago for the first time after painful efforts to make it run on my win 7. It was one of the most memorable gaming experiences of my life.

please oh please do not be a GWFL title, please oh please do not be a GWFL title, please oh please do not be a GWFL title.

The latest news I've heard of M$oft's new console are not encouraging: seems they want to eliminate game rentals, locking each copy to each particular console. Not sure what this'll mean for backwards comaptibilit,y not to mention the forcing everyone online.

got this link off a diff forum, but it's worrying.

http://www.edge-onli...and-new-kinect/

were I a console gamer, I'd be very curious how Sony will react to this.

According to the rumors the PS4 will most likely also contain some kind of technology that locks one game to one console, or probably more logical, one user account. Thus eliminating the used games market. Good buy Gamestop, may you burn in hell.

Your internet rumors won't stand up in court in numerous European countries. Do you think Sony is just not going to sell PS4's in those countries, or do you think perhaps you shouldn't put stock in rumors?
