dr who.... *melts into floor*

He looks like the bastard child of some kinda human-bird combo........he must have a really good personality.........honestly! I must be the only woman who doesn't find that man attractive.

Hehe. Ah, I remember this. Before she watched the show my gf used to say WHY does everyone find David Tennant so hot? I don't get it, he's kind of goofy looking ect..

Then I got her to watch Series 2...all the way through....turns out it's his CHARM that won her over...and now...she LOVES David Tennant and finds him gorgeous. She never did before.

Trust me. Women don't love Tennant till they watch him in action.

DOCTOR WHO ...BEST SHOW EVER! just sayin' :p

Got to admit that wasn't the best trailer for Dr. Who that I've seen.
I'd suggest the kind of monologue he has with Satan's corporeal form:

Spoiler

Edited to make sure Loki doesn't actually watch them before she watches the rest.

Is that the general quality of acting in the Dr Who series? It's awful.

Apt, you always leave me perplexed. Between liking Aqua and silly movies but suddenly developing a pseudo-highbrow pallet for acting I think you may suffer from either bi-polar disorder or multiple personalities (the latter just reinforcing the idea that you are in fact a face of Abyss).

Yeah, I know. I found way better ones but I didn't want to post them because they were spoilerish for Loki if she decides to watch.

That guy is overacting. Not acting. Or is it just that I do not know the Dr Who character well enough? Is the doctor some kind of mad cow infected coke head with a personality disorder? If he is that acting was spot on.

The Doctor who series just seems so cheap. Cheap actors. Cheap effects. Cheap stories. A Space Satan made out of 90s CGI? Really? Maybe it is a niche thing, like the Xena and Hercules series.

The Doctor is exactly like that. He's supposed to be like that. Tennant is actually a brilliant actor.

The first few seasons of the new series (relaunched in 2005 after the original show went tits up in the early 90's) were produced by BBC and the CBC (here in Canada). No they didn't have a lot of money for the first couple of seasons so the effects suffer a lot in places, but Series 3 and beyond things ramped up a decent amount and things got significantly better. That said it only exists because Russel T. Davies was a fan who wanted it to come back, so he gave it everything he had to see it back....even if it had to have lackluster effects for the first while.

The issue I've had to explain to people to get them to watch is that DW isn't about how good the effects are, but rather the story and characters involved. That's what makes it so good.

That said, you want better effects Apt? Here is a clip from Series 5 (last year)....as you can see the effects budget went way up (as the relaunched DW is BBC 1's flagship series now)

I'm sorry guys but (and I never thought I'd say this) I have to agree with Apt on this one. I saw the season return tonight and I don't think I enjoyed a single aspect of it beyond mild amusement at seeing Badger in it.

@QT - My friends own all the Dr Who series - if you suggest the best one to watch I'll give it a go - perhaps familiarity will breed interest and then like.....stranger things have happened :p

Okay. I'd suggest reading up a bit on Series 1 (the one with Christopher Eccelstone as the 9th Doctor) VIA like Wikipedia or sumthin, and then watch all of Series 2 with David Tennant....which starts...like this:
