Thanks, and neither, really. I meant to end up with a short haircut anyway, so I cut my dreads to chin-length (used to be down to my waist), then combed them out (took 12 hours, so I don't want to know how long combing them all out would've taken) because I wanted to have enough hair to work with. The hairdresser did a superb job and cut me the exact cut I wanted despite my hair being a mess after combing out the dreads.

Hadn't I combed out the dreads partly, I'd have ended up with only a couple centimeters of hair left

Then again, I was prepared to have to comb out from the day I started dreading my hair anyway, and after six years I doubt I could've saved much of the lower dread parts.

It is, I still can't keep my hands off my hair, just to be sure, even a week later

when they see me these days, even the nurse at my doctor's office, which is kind of funny, and sad, because I did this mainly due to job-related reasons and I miss my dreads a lot.
