He went through the motions, each movement precise, mind and body as one, face a mask of concentration. When he was done exercising, he went out on the streets, ready to practice his training for real, should someone be so foolish as to take him on.

~~

She chased her target, cursing. The woman moved with a grace that should have belonged to her, and her equipment was as advanced as her own. Did the other know she was being followed, as she jumping from rooftop to rooftop, scaling walls? She wondered who would win a serious chase… then restrained herself. She was not here to impede the woman in any way, merely to make sure no-one was aiding her. Little chance of that happening on a rooftop… When they reached the Keio Plaza Hotel, the other suddenly scaled the walls with a vigor up to the first blue light on the side, then moving horizontal, finally entering a room through a hole in the glass that wasn’t there a minute before. She froze, and clung to a wall by her fingers, aided by carbon climbing gear.

~~

He buckled his trusty old raincoat, stepped out into the street, off to the expensive bar where his target would be. He wasn’t dressed to mingle with the bright stars and their shallow minds, but usually, there were vantage points, and he wanted to know what this particular pawn in the game was doing.

~~

The man with the heavy eyebrows examined the car. An old model, armoured, with a diplomatic flag attached. Clearly the old buzzard left nothing to chance and would only go out when protected. Politicians… He switched a stiletto open, and cut all four tires, deeply. Bastards were incredibly hard to cut, but this would prevent the old man from going out tonight.

~~

She tinkered with the pen, screwing and unscrewing the little golden tip, adjusting tiny wires where they went from the magnificent little lens through the ink reservoir to the back of the pen, where the hard-drive was installed. In comparison, the USB reading unit that would connect the pen to the Apple on her desk looked crude by comparison. She yawned, and went to the toilet. A few minor adjustments had to be made, but nature called first.

~~

The glass cutter barely made a sound as she cut herself a way in. Suction grips slowly settled the small disc on the ground, ready to be put back. The thick glass would hold for several hours, then probably shatter the window, if she made a few subtle punctures. She rolled to the ground, into the bedroom, and from there, noticed how there was light in the sitting room of the suite, and how the toilet door was locked. Not much time, then. She sprinted to the table, saw the iMac, and a fountain pen, screwed open on the top, little wires coming out. A smile played on her lips, she had seen enough. She rolled back, and when the toilet flushed, the bedroom window appeared to be whole once more.

~~

“Hello there,” the heavy voice with its impeccable accent said.
“Hello,” the other replied, her face unfriendly and untrusting, pulling up her cheap black scarf until it reached her chin.
“I have something you can use, I think.”
“What do you mean?” she asked.
“Tomorrows news, love, tomorrows news.”

~~

She sat down, crossed her elegant legs, and smiled at him, amusement apparent at his surprise.
“So,” he asked, “to what do I owe a visit from such an exquisite young lady?”
“Maybe,” she said, “it is the Saville Row jacket you’re wearing. Huntsman?”
“No, sadly not. Had to buy this one of the rack before leaving for Afghanistan.”
“It’s rather sad to see one of my heroes fails to live up to his reputation,” she said, leaning towards him, perfect smile taking the sting out of the words.
“One of your heroes?”
“You are a bit of a national celebrity, aren’t you?”
“Oh, it’s not that, I was merely wondering who the others would be.”

----------

This should be everything.
I will be sending out all the PMs now, then start day 2.
Give me 15 to 30 minutes, give or take.
Only someone with this much power could make this many frittatas without breaking any eggs.

7 points: Having cast the most votes of all teams (EU, US, Syndicate, Japanese, Russians). Votes are counted at the end of the day only.

All right, so now color me confused.

Given Mockra's initial assumption that the Chinese have more members than everyone else, if everyone playing laid down a vote, wouldn't that give the Chinese their victory condition?

Obviously, not everyone is going to put down a vote, but those who do, saying they're counteracting the Chinese, could just as easily be Chinese trying to get their vote in. Ideally, in the case of no lynch, it is better for no one to vote if you want to thwart the Chinese.

And @Driss: This is, like, the second post where I've mentioned the Chinese, so I'm not sure what you're on about.

Like i said it was an impression on read through that may be completely wrong. I dont have long periods of time to play so try to remember who made me think what and could be confusing you with someone else.

@Gamelon, Spam, guessing team makeup and mechanics, spam with poems and Queen songs, a comment from D'riss gets examined, a comment from Galain gets examined and he gets a few votes, Kaschan rages. Nobody really wants to lynch.

The end.

It is Day 2. 24 hours remaining

PLEASE NOTE: NONE OF THE CHARACTERS IN THIS STORY ARE ROLES

Hitaki Furumaro, junior sales officer of the special projects division of the Matsushita corporation, straightened his tie and went through the list of people he was about to meet today at the Tokyo Stock Exchange, considering for each how deep his bow should be.
The assignment for today was an honour for him and for his company. Matushita had been involved deeply in the development of a special government project with heavy American influence. The project had been known as SANDMAN. Furumaro didn’t know about the specifics, however, he did know about the technical details: his company had designed and constructed a new computer casing designed to be able to contain, isolate and cool a great many super computers. While this project SANDMAN had been one of a kind, the quick minds of the R&D department had seen commercial uses for these casings. Furumaro had shown interest immediately. He had been looking for a big break for a while. Where his colleagues and a few of his superiors had struggled with coming up with practical ideas, Furumaro had turned his attention towards the centres of big money: the Stock Exchanges. Today, he would meet the technical experts of the Tokyo Stock Exchange. If it worked here, it would work everywhere. Moreso because the server rooms were of a size that fitted the designs for project SANDMAN, so that little to no modifications to the more bulky parts of the technology were required. His senior had shown interests and had pulled some strings, and here he was.

~

A black minivan, entering Tokyo, containing a team of local MaMa henchmen.

“Jawohl, herr G.”
The bulky German mercenary put the mobile phone down. “Orders straight from the top. One Hitaki Furumaro is going to visit the Nikkei Exchange. It is up to us to secure him, and obtain the location of and access to the laboratories where a certain project SANDMAN was developed. This is a covert operation, force is only authorized should third parties interfere, or if we cannot secure the target by other means before the end of the day.”

No-one died.

23 Players still alive: D'riss, Eloth, Emurlahn, Fener, Galain, Galayn Lord, Gamelon, Hood's Path, Kaschan, Korvalain, Liosan, Meanas, Mockra, Olar Ethil, Omtose, Rashan, Ruse, Serc, Shadow, Sheltatha Lore, Silanah, Spite, Tellan

12 votes to lynch, 12 votes to go to night.

Looks like a 'preparation' action or some kind of defensive maneuver.

Some kind of guard or hinder action, maybe one that failed.

A find or an info action... apparently on the person in the scene right above. Very well written, Tapper :). Also, seems like this may be the same woman that was eluding the woman from the second scene (glass cutting, hole in glass, etc)

So no deaths, huh? Doesn't even look like a kill was even attempted...

Nope, it's why people have been bandying the idea about of Galain as a dummy alt. That is, members of a team (or lovers, or it could be the giving of an ability mentioned in the Chinese VC, like an Imposter ability or something) are able to post in another alt for whatever purpose. That is all speculation, of course, but it seems the most likely scenario.

I can see how people would think that (even if it is a bit of a leap in my mind), but I don't think it's an area we should be focusing on. Kaschan has been rather vehement about this whole thing, and it's confusing the fuck out of a lot of people, you and Fener included. If his purpose was to distract from scum-hunting (assuming the dummy alt is a scum ability) or just to distract in general and get a lynch from it, then he's done a marvelous job.

EDIT - x-post with HP

Fuck you - Im not confusing anyone. Im playing the fucking game. There is a massive OVER FUCKING REACTION to the vote and pressure that was put on Galain. Thats the fucking case. You trying to constantly discredit my arguments by saying they make no sense is really starting to get under my skin. You dont like it, make something better happen. But stop pretending that I started the fucking topic, or that I am single handedly driving home the argument. I am giving my input about the reasons Galain looks scummy (or at least someone of intrest).

I find myself sympathizing more with Kaschan's side of the argument here, though yes that's quite an overreaction on his part (quoted above). His arguments do make some -albeit limited- sense, at least as a day 1 argument. He's also gotten us more information than most of the other players combined. This terror of making accusations unless it's based on 4 cases, 2 finds and several days worth of bickering is pretty silly all told.

Furthermore, pretty much the only way to get people to actually respond to your case and not just shrug it off is to present it as iron clad. People are too worried about being noticed to even want to defend themselves unless they absolutely have to. To be honest it can be quite frustrating.

I have read through all that has been added. That sucked having the thread go down during my posting time.

I'm more concerned with all the people jumping at the Galain/Emurlahan case, than with the case it self. I don't see us getting any where close to a lynch today and I think the people who are all jumpy right now are the one who will gain team points from a lynch. I am at work right now and don't have the time to go through and make cases, but I will tonight.

This logic makes me wonder a little. It focuses too much on a single team and not on the fact that our main priority should be to hunt down and lynch the syndicate. Of course we will all aim to gain the most points for our faction, but that is something that should be placed in the background. We're spies after all, not soldiers.

So the idea that only Chinese will jump on the train is faulty I think, though the Chinese naturally have an additional incentive to lynch outside of just hunting syndicate.

In the end, my point is simply that limiting our willingness to lynch because of the Chinese hardly hampers the Chinese much in the long run and it greatly benefits the syndicate.

I think he voted me because he thought when Ruse voted me earlier in a semi-joking fashion, that it looked like a signal vote.

He left it there quite happily for most of the day and then got onto Galain when Silanah and Eloth started to defend Galain.

I was the one who pointed out Ruse's vote being a possible signal, just so we're not mixing our facts here.

Wow, looks like that was a busy night last night. Couple of things looked like guards, another bunch like finds. Nothing resembling an attempted kill, but I'm not sure if the mods would put something that incriminating in a scene.

I think we can say that tinted classes man wears a raincoat, and that there's two players with very similar roles (or equipment at least).

It seems like preventing aid isnt the same as guarding, if the woman being followed is the same one that observed the bugging. It also looks like there's some sort of ability that can intercept messages, based on the bugged pen.

Also looks like maybe one or two factions managed to establish contact, or at least that's how I read the last two paragraphs, so on thread relationships between people are probably going to come into play a bit more from this point onwards.

Trenchcoat = tinted tilted glasses seems likely, I think the earlier scene with that guy indicated one of his targets was going to be getting his drink on or something like that... and this guy is going to an expensive bar.

Hadn't considered the pen was bugged, good point... the scene doesn't give that way, the woman just seems happy at what she sees.

edit: thought it said "tinted" glasses but i read it again

The man with the tilted glasses watched as the profile of his target assembled itself on his screen. He checked pictures, and there were a lot: the target as a teenager, as a man in his thirties, the changes in uniform when he rose in rank, until the last picture: only the face, stern and disapproving.
He murmured: "I'm sure as hell glad you're not my granddad..."

____

He walked through the city, trying to memorize his way through all the glass and concrete, and wondering how to go about his tasks. He rubbed his neck. The first thing to do, was find a cheap hotel, get some rest, it would be a long night. Then, he had to find the unassuming woman, who would be hiding amongst the criminal elements of the city. A daunting task.

The other would be a lot easier to find, probably a hotel lobby where he'd be sipping whisky, unless something worthy of his time happened. There weren't many of those up to his standards, so the search would take an hour or so.

Nevermind, not as sure anymore that Tilted Glasses has the Trenchcoat... Tilted Glasses is the one on top. The bottom one doesn't seem to have any identifying clothes.

Well a device with a hardrive inside a pen and a reader in a computer definitely sounds like a bug to me. First cat girl would be happy because she now knows either that whoever owns the pen has been bugged, or that toilet lady can place bugs.

It's going to be really hard to keep track of all the people in the scenes, lol.

I don't think the Pen is a "bug" it talks about a lense and a hard drive. seems more like a spy camera/listening device to me. Maybe she can read /eavesdrop on Pm's?

isnt that sort of the definition of a bug? :) Yeah that seems likely, cant think of many other ways of a bug manifesting in game terms. Possibly a find but eavesdropping is far more likely i think.

That kind of implies the same thing as the pen being bugged, but in reverse (the lady with the pen can use it to listen as opposed to the lady with the pen being listened upon). Really, if the pen were bugged, I'm sure someone with that pen knows who they are and would probably be careful if they had off-thread communications today. Would be kind of useless to eavesdrop if the target knew you were there!

I think it's just some kind of info device. Maybe listening-in, maybe just watching someone's actions, IDK.
