They were both on Day 3, however, and since votes are only counted at the end of the day there could not have been a difference between the start of Day 3 and the middle of it. Ergo, I don't think there were significant changes between the two announcements.

edit: @ Sil

No, I agree, but it went from definite to likely with that announcement, so I feel it's wrong to vote based on that.

Wow! I was just about to start composing my post about my thoughts on whats happened over night and then Shadow does that.

I cannot decide if you are amazingly stupid, or are scum. Just in case its the latter.
Vote Shadow

You do realise, the only way we win this game is by lynching the Syndicate right? And you are wanting us to lynch one of two PI?

How in the world is Kaschan PI?

I didn't say they were, Shadow said he believed Korvalain about the factions then voted accordingly.

So, the Europeans are still in the lead, huh?

Considering that the Americans have a victory condition to identify other factions, and they've already gotten some hypothetical points from doing it successfully, I'm inclined to believe that Korvalain was not merely guessing when he pronounced Kaschan as being European. And since the Europeans are currently in the lead, whilst I don't have anyone particularly pinging my scum radar at this time (at least not more than my experience tells me is perfectly normal for the average non-scum), I favour the option of voting for the European and hopefully halting that nationality's progress.

Vote Kaschan

Here where you said, that you believed Korvalain he wasn't guessing about the factions and said he was European. So your voting for a member of the town that is in the different faction from you trying to halt that nationalitys progess. Well thats how I read it anyway. Are you saying its something else?

Oh please, Galain, don't try to pretend that you think PI somehow means something other than not-syndicate. Me believing that Kaschan is European has no effect on whether he is syndicate or not. You, on the other hand, seem to be saying otherwise for some reason...

Unless you think he's a symp then he's a PI yes
. Someone else has revealed that he's a member of the town (which you have said you believe) and then you have voted accordingly for that person, you have said you are voting for him because he's a member of town, but in a different faction. Not because he's a symp, or syndicate, which in IMO is wrong.

Which one is it? They were PI, you didn't say they were PI, and now they are PI again?

re-reading the scenes....

we suppose that Korv might have gotten info on 2 players. who could he be in the scenes?

also, there are a total of 3 mentions of "the chess player" so far.... if we suspect he's Syndicate, he's also been very busy. perhaps that's the best place to start looking?

Scene

Quote

She made careful piles of the shirts, socks and trousers of the man whose room she was raiding. Nothing. Then, she noticed a chess piece on the night stand. A rook. From there, the clues were easy to follow - who he was, what he did. A smile broke through her hard features. Within a minute, the room was as it had been before.

Sounds like someone might know who the chess player is. Are you implying it's you Fener?

nah, just trying to draw info.. I was re-reading the scenes thread in another window, lol.

also, correct me if i'm wrong, but the martial artist (guy who wasted Emu) was mentioned several times as well.

And lots of ninja/cat girls - one following another, the chased swiping the pen, one perched 11 stories up, one hanging over a sign with a blade, etc etc. Impossible to tell which ones are the same but I'm sure they're not all unique.

Well I'm sure Galain is frantically trying to figure out how he can argue that nationality and innocence are the same, or else he's confusingly wondering what he did wrong. It's getting late, though, and I'm disinclined to wait what could be a long time for him to put it together, so I'll be heading off shortly, but I hope I'll be able to get back on tomorrow morning.

I'm off to bed. Galain has yet to compose a defense or response in those 15 minutes*, and people who fail at rules, especially when those exact fucking rules have been discussed and explained already, piss me off. Either that or he's scum and has made a slip.

Vote Galain

Good night guys.

edit: the 15 minutes since Shadow voted, that is.

The man with the tilted glasses watched as the profile of his target assembled itself on his screen. He checked pictures, and there were a lot: the target as a teenager, as a man in his thirties, the changes in uniform when he rose in rank, until the last picture: only the face, stern and disapproving.
He murmured: "I'm sure as hell glad you're not my granddad..."

Quote

He stood in the rain, his glasses mirroring the lamp light, eyes on the man who sat in the restaurant, reading a book. He was unaware of the lithe figure perching on a neon sign high above him, her tiny feet all she used for balance, a weird-shaped blade in her hand. She liked the power she had over death and life, but she would not unleash it yet.

Not sure mirroring glasses = tinted/tilted, but anyway.

Quote

Vivaldi filled the room. Easy listening. The back of his pen ticked along with the violins, while the other hand danced over the keyboard. Tourist visa, credit cards, education papers, driving license... for a Porsche. Interesting.
Then, the last few credit card payments caught his attention. Technical stuff... "so, where were you last night, darling?" he asked. The screen provided the answer. "Now why did you need that?"

Elderly man has been in four that I can see. Busy bee indeed.

the first one I quoted, plus:

Quote

The man with the heavy eyebrows examined the car. An old model, armoured, with a diplomatic flag attached. Clearly the old buzzard left nothing to chance and would only go out when protected. Politicians… He switched a stiletto open, and cut all four tires, deeply. Bastards were incredibly hard to cut, but this would prevent the old man from going out tonight.

Quote

The old man hissed a few syllables into the phone. "Remember your duty, you little runt! I am the one who tells you where and when to apply pressure, not you, you little bald monkey!"

Quote

"Ohh, good morning."
"Oooh, what a delight. You look gorgeous," the elder man said, wolfing down copious amounts of bacon.
"Thank you."
"Anything to eat?"
"Never in the mornings," she smiled apologetically. "Have got to watch the figure. But an orange juice would be nice."
"Sure!" he beckoned the waiter, then leaned back. "So, why did you seek me out? Surely there is somethign I can do for you?"
"Yes. I was wondering if you would go shopping with me. You see, I feel lost here, and it would be good to have someone with such world experience with me."
He couldn't say no, and had to cancel his appointment with another.

Unless tiger tattoo bloke was the weird monk guy, can only see the one from him.

how hard is it to realize that nationality won't always equal non-syndicate?

I'm gonna go read all the scenes. I think Baudin/Giles should get MOTM just for keeping that thing updated.

Very, evidently.

Well, I need to continue writing an essay, so 10 more minutes and I'll head off.

I can imagine the tiger guy being the monk... which would make him a very likely Chinese, making the death of Emu the height of Irony...

I'm going to bed too, soon. And, I don't know if I'll be able to get back before day times out.

So, the second possible, and definitely first contradiction gets a vote from me.

Vote Galain.

Or he's Chinese syndicate, and he's thinning the (presumably) largest team.

Or he's Japanese (or Japanese Syndicate - Yakuza!) Does Japan have tigers?

EDIT - oh, and it's not ironic - it's tragic. It would be ironic if he was certain Emu was not Chinese. Grammar lesson!:)

not that I know of.
it's only tragic to the Chinese. since the rest of us already speculated, he wasn't on Day 2 vote train, making him a "less likely Chinese" in someone's books.
apparently, that's what the tiger thought, too, lol

Point conceded. Means it's both. Ironic to everyone, tragic to him.

Vote Galain

Good night guys.

edit: the 15 minutes since Shadow voted, that is.

Hmm, in my opinion he should really only piss you off if he's on your team, scum or otherwise (cf. Tapper's comment in the OP). From what I can see, Galain trying to convince us Kaschan and Omtose (Kaschan moreso since he got the vote) are PI and subsequently putting down a Shadow vote seems to me at first glance more deflecting from Kaschan after figuring out his nationality than a scum making a slip. Why would he be against lynching someone who he imagines is PI if he is scum? In that light, it's not a slip, just a ridiculously stupid and incorrect thing to say. That he knows Kaschan's nationality and Syndicate alignment and is trying to stop a scum lynch is quite plausible (especially if Kaschan is the criminal elements woman and she is Syndicate), and I'm warming to it myself the more I think about it, but since Galain has made this mistake before, I can see (although I'm hesitant believing it) that Galain is inno, fails catastrophically at reading comprehension and game mechanics, and is deflecting from a Kaschan lynch.

With that in mind, the thought that he's scum is almost an afterthought in your vote to me is odd.

EDIT - added 'scum or otherwise'

Seems the game is finally heating up.

I think Galain is a little confused as to the difference between nationality and faction - I get the impression that someone could still CF as EU syndicate member and without knowing the details of Korv's finds (assuming he told us the truth), we can't be sure if he would be told nationality or faction...

So I can see Galains logic, although I'm not sure about his whole "you're talking about PI, no I am" thing. I doubt he is syndicate though - the only reason syndicate would step up in someone else's defense like that would be if the other person was also syndicate. While that is a possibility, I'm more inclined to believe Korv would likely get faction results back as opposed to nationality results back. They have to learn the exact composition of two spy teams before the end of the game. Knowing syndicate members within a faction too would likely mess with that objective, so it would probably only be the case if someone's role specifically messed with finds - ala the symps from last game.
