I don't know about the States, but over here no court in their right mind would allow these 2 to adopt, it's fucked.

Good luck to baby Cletus/ Emmy-Lou.

I hear banjos.
Now all the friends that you knew in school they used to be so cool, now they just bore you.
Just look at em' now, already pullin' the plow. So quick to take to grain, like some old mule.

Unless your grandmother in Monica Bellucci this is wrong.

Sounds like something from a Stepehn King book I read once.

Did anyone else see SNL with Betty White this weekend, and the episodes of "MacGruber"? So timely for this topic.

"Will you make me the happiest man alive, Grandma, and marry me?"
"Are you out of your f-cking mind? Of course I'll do it!"

*Head in toilet, retching sounds*
OK, I think I got it, but just in case, can you say the whole thing over again? I wasn't really listening.

There'd be a terrible joke to be made if the connecting relation was the son/father of the two, rather than the daughter/mother. Especially if the dad was still alive.

"You can't have sex with my mother!"
"Why not? You fucked mine."
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

I want to die the way my dad died, peacefully in his sleep. Not screaming in terror like his passengers.

I started reading this and after the first sentence I started chanting in my head, "please dont be from South Carolina, please dont be from South Carolina, PLEASE DONT BE FROM SC".... "oh shit, Indiana, sweet."
I have seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter at the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in the rain...."

and please Indiana state DSS, please stay close to this. When grandma dies keep a especially close eye on this child, obviously incest is not a problem for the 26 year old male. If you will suck face with your 72 year old grandmother in public, is anything "out of play?"

the mind boggles, this left me literally speechless. What the fuck is wrong with these people?
Take the grandmother issue out of it and its still pretty fucked, with it being incest its just off the scale.

in other news, Monica Belluci is HOT.
in a heartbeat.

The only way this could be grosser and wronger is if they somehow, via a miracle breakthrough medical procedure HE was the one getting pregnant.

A la "junior" - the 1994 schwarzenegger film

Nothing really to discuss on this one.

Relationship is revolting but fundamentally OK in this age of PC-ness where girls can become guys, guys can become girls and people can legally marry their cats.

Incest is full-on wrong, down to the genetic level. There's a reason its been shunned and illegal for centuries.

I say let them have their love, but somebody please, please stop the surrogate mother thing. Chrissakes.

Being PC has nothing to do with accepting the fact that some men feel like they're actually women and vice versa, which in turn has nothing to do with marrying cats.

I mean, in a society where PCness is paramount

Transvestites are ok because it's frowned-upon to dislike them for their life choice
Marrying cats was kind of a sarcastic example

Being in love with your grandmother at age 26, or in love with any much, much older person should be ok unto itself, since it would be discriminatory (anti-PC) to state otherwise.

Incest isn't ok.

this is all very horrifying to me....
(Jen'isand Rul, the Wanderer within the Sword)
'I am the Shield Anvil.' I am Fener's grief. I am the world's grief. And I will hold. I will hold it all, for we are not yet done. <Itkovian>
'We are not born innocent, simply unmeasured.' <Hull Beddict>
'Because a god visits her, Fist. He comes to break her heart. Again and again.'<Nether>
'Fucking dragon.' <Fiddler>
Take my breath. But not this one, not this one. <Apsalar>
'Aye.' It's a good word. I think. More a whole attitude than a word, really. With lots of meaning in it, too. A bit of 'yes' and a bit of 'well fuck' and maybe some 'we're all in this together.' So a word to some up the Malazans. <Sunrise>

Transvestites are okay because they're okay. Transgenders are okay because they're okay. Transsexuals are okay because they are okay. A person can frown upon them all they want, but being proactively intolerant of them is wrong because it's none of your business, at all, ever. Not because it's politically incorrect to be intolerant.

Trying to avoid a semantics argument here.

You are right. Yes they are all ok. I should have picked some other examples. Lets leave it there.

Incest is still not ok, in any way shape or form.

A matter of opinion I think you'll find.

Why?

From a biological, reproductive stand point I can understand the issue, unless you're the last two people on earth, mixing matching gene pools is a bad idea. And yet I've read articles suggesting that interbreeding might not be "that bad", it's only when it goes on for generations you get children looking like Tiste Simeon.

From an ethical, judicial, emotional stand point I don't see who's business it is to decide who you can or cannot fuck the brains out of, or more importantly, who you're allowed to love. Sure, it's a problem when it goes from incest to paedophilia, which I guess is also the real issue. But what about cousins who fall in love? Or siblings? Or hell even parents and children (once they have grown to an age where you can argue the child is acting out of their own sane mind).

Who are you, or society, to tell two grown ups that they can't love each other? For arguments sake, what's the difference between a sister and brother loving each other and two men or two women loving each other? Society is bending over backwards to accommodate gay people now, why is incest then still something that people find disgusting and wrong?

@Tyrant Lizard: In the sense that people can form wrong-headed opinions about anything regardless of the facts, sure. The earth is flat, the sun flies around it, and the particulars of your biochemistry are morally wrong and should be openly scorned by the old biddy in the cubicle next to you, 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, until one of you retires.

@Apt: While I agree with you in terms of what is whose business, the parent-child relationship still smacks of suspicious behavior because one raised the other. Just saying that's some gray area.

In terms of gay people, society here (the US) is certainly not bending backwards, forwards, or any which way to accommodate gay people. In fact, most states are actively, aggressively passing anti-gay laws while they still can (in other words, before the Supreme Court knocks off the b.s.). It's pretty disgusting, and the attitudes are progressing at an embarrassing rate, where they're not regressing.

This is a documentary trailer for a film covering just one of thousands of absolutely horrifying stories.

I'm confused, is incest not illegal in Indiana or something? Or is it just so widespread there that cases like this are ignored by the authorities (much like Norfolk and the West Country in the UK)?
