Spoilers of course.

As always, this thread is for any comments, discussion, suggested corrections/additions/alterations and anything else you find relavent. All feedback welcome!

Current release: Version 5.0

Full Version -> it's a zip file so you'll have to unzip it.
Lo-res version -> no background and greater jpeg compression

Major changes and additions since 4.1:
-Fancy new background (which makes it 30MB, unfortunately)
-MT added in full
-pre-MT Lether events added
-HoC book I added
-TtH and DoD sketched out with a couple events
-more RotCG events added
-lots of icons changed to standardize them better

The extreme width of the image makes it un-openable in some programs. The following programs work:
-Windows Photo Viewer
-Windows Live Photo Gallery
-MS Office Picture Manager
-Paint.net
-IE
-Firefox
-ACDSee

The last note at the end of the timeline had me smiling.

Would it be possible to have a distinct and uniform color/symbol for battles? The different shapes are a good idea, but they do tend to run together a bit when multiple things happen very close to each other.

What exactly is this supposed to be viewed with? I can't get any of my applications to display the picture.

Yeah, I'm having trouble viewing it as well. It says it's a normal .jpg, but nothing I have works with it.

Used Picasa, but it crashed a few times trying to grapple with the program.

These are the four I tried it in and it works fine:

-Windows Photo Viewer
-Windows Live Photo Gallery
-MS Office Picture Manager
-Paint.net

It can't be opened in some more basic programs like paint because it is too many pixels wide.

I'm running a pretty decent system with Windows 7 and Picasa crashed about four times before I saw it. Might be worth figuring out how to drop the image size. Great image though.

Oh, for all who can't view the picture: use Firefox to open it, that should work.

Added a lower quality, no-background version for those having issues with the large file size.

I'd really like to have the high resolution image, as I'm a graphic designer and can't stand having the low quality image when I know there is a better one available. However, it hangs whenever I try to open it on my computer (I'm using Irfanview, which is one of the best image viewers available). So, I was wondering if you could maybe add an archive containing a 'split' version of the high quality. Specifically, if you cut it in to segments that were each, say, 10,000px wide and then included each segment in the archive. This way I'd be able to open each image while still preserving the image quality.

I suppose that would be theoretically possible, but I make these in Visio which would not allow me to do such, leaving me the option of splitting the jpeg manually in paint or equivalent. I could do it, but it'd take some time. What I will do (immediately) is upload the background so you can take that and put it behind the lo-res version of the timeline yourself (and replicate it however many times you like to stretch it across), and that'll give you pretty much the same thing (the quality difference between the versions is pretty much negligible).

The background is called August Ash, and it is now uploaded.

Incidentally I'm looking at some other ways of reducing the file size by modifying the order of steps in my creation process and I'll re-post if I get anywhere with that.

Is there any specific reason that you're using Visio?
Also, what are the odds of getting it uploaded here on to ME.com at like www.malazanempire.com/timeline so we can view it on the website?

Well, because it's my favourite chart-making program!

None at the moment, it's just a random fan project like Werthead's world map. I haven't spoken to one of the website owners about incorporating it... yet.

D'rek: First off, congratulations for a very valuable piece of information.
Now, I know that the timeline isnīt important :p - however, could you clarify why you put Karsaīs adventures, setting out from Uryd Lands, not back in time, as was already discussed on the forum (which I assume you know)?
Cheers!

This timeline is awesome. Thank you.
We sail in and out of Time, then back again. There is only one ship, the captain says. All the ships we hail between the galaxies or suns are this ship.
