What's the best sequal of all time?

I'm going for Mad Max 2 the Road Warrior. It shits all over the original.
I want to die the way my dad died, peacefully in his sleep. Not screaming in terror like his passengers.

Clamlappers 2 is a cinematic masterpiece.
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

Are we talking in terms of pure awesome, or just how much better it is than the original?

Anyway, I'd have to say The Dark Knight or The Empire Strikes Back off the top of my head.

Worst sequel ever? Caddyshack 2.

Aliens and Terminator 2, duh!

Also, Predator 2. Sneaking that baby in there while you're all in awe of the first two. It is both better than the first, and awesome in its own right.

Aliens
Terminator 2
The Dark Knight

Mostly because all the original were excellent films, but the sequels just blew them out of the water.

X2 was also good, not as good, I don't think though.

I'm sorry, but No. Just no. The first Predator is one of the finest action/horror/sci-fi films of all time.
It shits on it's tawdry sequel from such a height that the excrement achieves terminal velocity before splattering all over the face of that stinking hack Stephen Hopkins, who dared to defile a great John McTeirnan film with an utterly atrocious sequel. And seriously, aside from some good comics and computer games, that one scene at the end of Predator 2 is DIRECTLY responsible for the steaming heap of crap of celluloid known as AvP.

But on a serious note, and related to sequels of John McTiernan films, Die Hard with a Vengeance.

FFS. It's Empire. Terminator 2 is good. Aliens 2 is good. But Empire is the Empire Strikes Fucking Back. Just start hearing the Imperial March in your head and you'll realize it.

If it's not Empire it's Fantastic Four 2.

After seeing the Machete trailer, I remembered that I've also enjoyed "Once Upon a time in Mexico" immensely, and it was considered a sequel to "Desperado"

It was a great shoot'em up flick where Johny Depp gets his eyes scooped out, with zero love-based subplots and non-stop action. What more can one possibly want?

I'd say Clerks 2 beat the original.
