crone muses on the fact that she has more than 1 master, one is rake, who are the others ?
it can't be caladan, cause she never met him before at thise part of the story.
any ideas ? (page 321 on the pb edition)

How much have you read? There is an answer, but it's from later on in the series (MoI, I think, though I'm not certain).

i have read the first 8 books, and just started a (first) reread.
are you implying to the part in moi about the origins of the ravens, as it would make them servants of the one who originated them ? (spolier free i hope)

That is exactly what I'm saying

It is Caladan. She had met him, they knew each other well.
There is the MOI issue as well. But I think it is quite clear she means Caladan, they certainly know each other well.

well, crone treats caladan as mysterious, why would she describe him as such if she knew him well ?

It's possible to know someone and still have them be mysterious.
uhm, that should be 'stuff.' My stiff is never nihilistic.

Yes, GotM has inconsistencies, but I don't consider this to be one of them. It's quite clear that she reports to Caladan about Rake - note her train of thought in one scene where she's thinking about that. However, this DOES appear much more sinister in the first book...when you learn how good friends Brood and Rake are it becomes a bit pointless.

Crone mentioned her masters, but seemed to be an ancient being of great power in her own right. It makes you realize haw powerful Rake is. I thought she was serving Brood on Rake's behalf.

indeed, and crone herself seems to suffer a share of delusions anyhow. everybody knows
Spoiler
could be she's just imagining or overplaying the sinister-ness of working for both brood and rake

Typical Great Raven melodrama? Could be, for sure.

I had just finished reading the section of GotM where this question is pertinent when I came across this question. Her other master(that she speaks of in GotM) is Caladan Brood.
Pg.301 - Tor paperback
With these unveiling of powers, heads had turned. And to one Crone flew in answer to a summons she was powerless to ignore. Lord Anomander Rake was not her only master, and for her this only made things more interesting. As for her own ambitions, she would keep them to herself. For now, knowledge was her power.
And if there was one secret more alluring than any other she might covet, it was the mystery surrounding the half-human warrior called Caladan Brood. Anticipation lifted Crone's wings with renewed strength.
pg 314-315 - Conversation between Brood and Crone
Anomander is in the midst of it," Crone purred. "Plotting and counter-plotting, scattering broken glass in everyone's path. I've never seen him in a better mood."
"Enough gossip, you have news for me?"
"Of course master." Crone stretched her wings and sighed.
Pg 316 - Conversation con't
Brood bared his filed his teeth in a nasty grin. "Ha, caught you out, I think. Good. You need taking down a notch or two, Crone. You don't know everything. How does it feel?"
"I'll permit such torture from you, Brood," Crone squaked, "only because I respect your temper. Just don't push me too far. Tell me, who around here can match Rake's mages? This is something I must know. You and your secrets. How can I be a true servant to my master`s wishes when he withholds vital information?
