I am kinda of overjoyed that they are finally making a new Conan film, yet kinda worried that it could be more like 'The Scorpion King' then any thing else.

But in Short Conan is going to be played by Jason Momoa ( Ronan Dex from Stargate Atlantis and Khal Drogo from 'A Game of Thrones) which could maybe work l guess.............
His father is Ron Perlman, the main bad guy is Stephen Lang (Scar colonel from Avatar), Rachel Nichols ( Shana 'Scarlett' O'Hara from G.I Joe) and Rose 'I am Red Sonja!!' McGowan are in it as well.

It is Directed by Marcus Nispel (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake, Friday the 13th remake, and Pathfinder which l didn't mind), and filming started on the March 15, 2010.



I am just hoping that a child hood hero doesn't get screwed over.

Also it would be awesome if they can reuse the same music, the original soundtrack by Basil Poledouris was, and still is, in my mind, a masterpiece.

It kind of looks like this is going to be a retread of the original Conan the Barbarian. There are so many great Conan stories that it would have been nice to have seen a movie touch on some of them. I will hold out hope as I like Ron Perlman but....
How many fucking people do I have to hammer in order to get that across.

Everything is OK...except director. Marcus Nispel is terrible director...his best shot is Pathfinder and thats about 5/10 rating for me (and I like Urban, Love Moon Bloodgood and art style of movie)... he has problem with action scenes, cant work with CGi and worst - cant build climax...his remake of Friday 13th was horrible... Jesus, why such idiot has to do Conan...?

Actually there is a lot wrong.

Rose McGowan should not be Red Sonja, she is neither tall nor endowed enough for the part. Rodriguez is the only reason she got the role.

Momoa as Conan is technically possible but I'm sure they could do better.

Perlman will be good.

But overall I have a bad feeling.

Whilst I still harbour some hopes that the new Predators rebootquel will be awesome, I fear this will suck massive balls.

Even my missus likes the original Conan flick, so I was not surprised when I told her about this potential donkey cock of a movie that her lamentations started in earnest.

Also, I haven't read the gumph yet, but Rose McGowan as Red Sonja !?! WTF is that all about ? Red Sonja wasn't in the original movie, nor did their paths meet in any of the original books if my memory serves. Completely different storyline, although Ahnuld was in that crappy movie with Bridget whasserface, he played Prince something or other.

As you may be able to tell, my memory may have failed so I may be incorrect :)

The Red Sonja bit is old news these days. The promo posters have been floating around for what like a year or more? And while I tend to agree, why bother having her in this movie, it won't really put me off seeing it that much.

Jason Momoa as Conan? That is stupidest shit I've heard in a long time. I strongly disliked the guy is SG: Atlantis, now they want him to play the role of a gigantic, musclebound savage capable of lifting a horse?

Looks like Rose McGowan has ditched Red Sonya, to be replaced by...Megan Fox.

The film will suck even more than was thought possible, however DVD sales will propel the film into the stratosphere as teenage boys the world over indulge in the wankfest that is essentially one long slow mo of a chainmail and leather clad Megan Fox riding a horse.

I may also have to purchase the movie for research purposes.

I don't mind Momoa, in fact his is my fav char from Atlantis (maybe b/c the rest are totally uninteresting), but he's not one to play Conan. A fucking CIMMERIAN. Think celts. He's caught way too much tan for that. Also, he's too small.
